Air Fryers, Apple Pies, and Avocado Fries

An A to Z Challenge

Air Fryer — photo by L Burton

Air Fryers

We had a different Cosori air fryer before we got the one pictured above. My oldest son and daughter of my heart gifted us with an air fryer for Christmas a couple years ago. Recently, there was a recall for that particular model, so we sent off the required info and received a new one a few weeks later.

I’ve already broken in the new air fryer with some recipes I hadn’t tried with the first one.

Apple Pies

The recipe is actually Mini Apple Pies but since I’m working with the letter ‘A’ here, I’ll just call it apple pies.

This was a simple recipe — not a lot of ingredients or work — my favorite kind of recipe. I wasn’t paying attention to the servings, though, and thought it would make more than it did. As it was, it made three mini apple pies that had a flaky crust and just the right amount of sweetness from the filling.

I’d definitely make these again. And ice cream for the win!

Avocado Fries

This was the first snack I tried in the new air fryer. I have a love/hate relationship with food. I like eating it, not so much making it. I’m always thrilled when a new recipe turns out perfect, or perfect for me, anyway, in the way it looks and tastes. And feel like a failure if even the slightest thing is off.

These avocado fries were a bit on the crunchy side and a bit floury. Any time I have to bread something I’m always concerned with not having enough coverage that I end up putting too much. Maybe I’ll try a lighter hand on the breading next time.

The overall consensus of the two newly tried recipes was positive.

For more ways to eat avocados and apples, not necessarily together, check out the challenge started by JoAnn Ryan.
