Add in More Fun: Tinker with Your Day
How to experiment quickly

“Go wide, explore, and learn new things. Something will surely have a kick for you” ― Mustafa Saifuddin
Last night I knew I wanted to prepare for the next day. Long ago, I used to set up all kinds of things the night before. The habit that has stuck with me is setting out my outfit. It feels great to have everything ready to go for a successful morning.
I also set the table for breakfast and make my must-do task list for the next day. It was fun to glance over at the table and know I was setting myself up for a great day at that moment. This old habit has become new again. On my 100-day journey exploring daily routines and habits, I have rediscovered what used to work.
Have you ever found yourself in a rut? It seems like it has been happening more lately because I have not traveled or gone to many new places. However, by experimenting with my daily schedule, I can bring the fun back in.
I am on a mission to figure out what lights up my creative fire. I wish the same for you! Here is something I am going to try every day.
Every day I will do one thing differently or try a new activity. That way, there are more possibilities that I will succeed in finding what works best for me. It will also refresh my days and give me something to anticipate.
Are you ready to explore?
Try Something New Every Day for 15 Minutes:
Last night I set my book next to my breakfast plate. I want to build more book reading into my day, so I thought it would help to have my book handy.
I decided to read for 15 minutes after breakfast. This experiment worked. I was engaged, excited to read, and it was relaxing to linger over my coffee for a few more minutes. It is a winner!
I plan on keeping this habit from now on. The key is to remember to place my book by my breakfast dishes the night before. It provides a great reminder, and I smile when I see it.
What is something new you can try for 15 minutes today?
Do Your Routine Differently:
Something I love is to have my house neat and tidy. Luckily, since there isn’t much clutter, it is relatively fast to clean. It takes thirty to forty-five minutes a day to go through my cleaning routine.
However, I have found that if I do my cleaning before my work, it cuts down on my creative time. If I do my cleaning after writing, I would rather have free time, and I slow myself down.
It does not feel ideal.
Today, I am going to try my cleaning routine after dinner. It is when we all do dishes anyway, so the momentum is going then. Much to my advantage, I am more likely to ask for help during this time as well.
I am also going to ask my son and husband to do a 15-minute tidy session.
It will be a fun experiment, and I will be back Friday to report how it went.
How can you switch up your routine?
My prayer for you today is to try a new routine and try something new for 15 minutes today. I hope that this helps spark more joy and creativity for you.
Day #2: How will you change your routine and try something new for 15 minutes today?
