Change Your Days and Find Your Happiness
3 Ways to Unblock Your Life

“The human spirit lives on creativity and dies in conformity and routine.” ― Vilayat Inayat Khan
In a year, I have written about two 100-day journeys, a 30-day journey, and more. All of those experiences brought me closer to understanding who I am and my purpose in life. Today, I start a new journey.
This series is about finding balance and joy in my daily routines, habits, and schedule.
Over the years, I have read many productivity books and articles. I have applied that advice to my life. However, I still feel that I need a radical change.
Somehow, I feel that those who do creative work owe ourselves more grace than we usually allow in our lives.
During 100 days of exploration, I am setting out to discover what works best for me and what does not when it comes to habits, routines, and schedules.
I believe that when we seek, we shall find. Each journey is different, but you may take away some ideas that work for you.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I will check in here to report on creative projects, habits, and routines. Tuesdays and Thursdays, I will take off of writing.
Last week I discovered I am seeking more space, more freedom, and more flexibility in my days.
I trust abundance to always provide for me as I explore.
There is a basic yoga pose I do each day called mountain pose. In it, you focus on standing tall. The teacher calls us to find the space to rest. That is the space I am seeking right now.
Last week, on a Thursday, I spent most of the day in the garden, digging in the dirt and planting flower seeds. As I felt the sunshine pouring down on me, I knew I needed to seek more of that.
Life drifts by us fast-we need to find that space.
I will be sharing some photos and thoughts from my days using the series feature on Medium. It is new for me, but I thought it would be a great way to document this journey.
Here are three quick ways you can unblock your life by exploring your routine:
Look At Your Schedule:
Take a look at how your current schedule is working for you. Are you getting the results you want? Do you feel fulfilled with the work you are doing?
If your current routine or schedule is blocking you more than creating flow, it is time to take a step back and discover what is going on.
What if you were to change it?
If you work for yourself, you can easily change it. Just try something new next week as an experiment. If you work at a job, see if there is a way to create a more flexible schedule.
Evaluate Your Emotions:
How do you feel about your current routine? Does it motivate and excite you to get your work done?
If it is not causing you to be excited about your work, it is time for a change. When we emotionally invest in what we do, it shows in our work ethic.
I found my creative spark waning on my old schedule. By taking a week off to adjust and discover new ways of being, I got my excitement back.
When you are naturally motivated to do your creative work, it is easier to complete your tasks. Today I feel very focused and joyful. Pay attention to how you feel around your work.
Trust and Take the Leap:
My last journey exploring abundance taught me to trust in the universe. I will always have what I need.
From this day forward, that foundation of trust will guide me. I am leaving space between my writing days on purpose. I do not need to fill those gaps. Those days are for me to discover something new about myself.
I encourage you to take a leap and trust. Try a new way of being. See what your soul calls you to do.
My prayer for you today is for you to explore your days. How do you feel about your current routine? Do you need more space? It helps to stand back and look at our lives to discover if we need to make a change.
