Would it be better

if

he found me on his plush red velvet lounge

with

a glass of aromatic French Beaujolais in my hand

and

soft muted downlights suspended as fading away distant stars

while

from afar in the corner a piano plays its melody so sweet sways the air waves

and

the lyrics that come are the ones I need him to hear….

’cause all of me loves all of you give your all to me I’ll give my all to you

and there

on the wall a subdued suggestion the wooed and the wooer projected full screen

Oh yes!

I can see it all now perfect perfection he and me

if there’s magic this night oh, please, please Abracadabra make it happen

Oh my, oh my, that crazy girl, and her romantic obsession for her billionaire boyfriend! She’s invaded my mind! There’s no other explanation — except maybe Indubala Kachhawa’s magic-inspired prompt for Paper Poetry!

The Magic in the Song

The lyrics I’ve inserted in the poem are adapted from the gorgeous love song, All of Me, that John Legend wrote and performed for his then fiancée, now wife, chrissy teigen.

Chrissy, as some of you may remember, published here on Medium, the heart-wrenching story of losing their third child, Jack, at 20 weeks into the pregnancy. At the time she called it a miscarriage but, last year, she reported she had come to realise it was a life-saving abortion. The couple celebrated the birth of their second daughter, Esti, in January this year.

The magic of love and new life is what sustains us.
