Abstract

get down to some serious writing. I’ve got hundreds of articles I plan to write but they all have one main objective and that is to add value to the lives of my readers. About Me — Kris Talks Life

I’m not addicted to reading. I can stop as soon as I finish the next chapter ;-)

Photo by Author — My Memoji showing love for reading, writing, and my audience

Well hello there! My name is Kris and in the next 6 minutes, I’m going to tell you my story. I’m a British male who is rapidly approaching 40 years young. My story began in the north of England in the lovely seaside town of Southport. My father moved the family down south for work when I was 3 years old so I didn’t get the northern accent my cousins are so lucky to have.

I grew up playing football, roller skating, and collecting pogs! Only those of a similar age will remember the days of Bauer Turbos and trading shiny pogs in the playground haha

At the age of 13, I remember wanting a £500 Sony stereo system and went to my parents thinking I was going to get it because that’s what parents do right? they buy their kids whatever they want. But no no no my parents rejected my request to teach me a very valuable life lesson which I’m very grateful for. I was told if you want expensive things then you have to go out and work hard for them.

So off I went doing three paper rounds a morning to get that expensive stereo system. That then led to me being a shop assistant and eventually slaving away in a fish and chip shop during my teenage years whilst doing my A-Levels.

Life then took me into IT where I spent nearly two decades running the heart of the business for a multi-national retail payments company. Being the leader of a data center operations team I had to write a lot of documentation to support them during the night when nobody was around to hold their hand.

This is where I got into writing and management decided I was so good at it they had me writing docs for multiple teams which I can promise you was not my intention. I rebelled by creating templates and telling management that the teams now had the tools to write their own decent documentation. After doing very well in the property and cryptocurrency markets I left that job to start building up online revenue streams whilst preparing to start a family with the love of my life. I’ve always been a tech guy from purchasing the very first iPhone as soon as it hit the market, to diving deep into the world of crypto and blockchain technology which will change the world over the next decade as it’s the next version of the Internet.

I’m that guy's house you go round and I’m like check this cool bit of kit out, you’ve got to get yourself one of these. I love buying good products, not necessarily expensive ones but good ones that tick all the boxes. I’ve downloaded thousands of apps over the years to find the best ones that are the most useful. I research and then I test and then I shout about them from the rooftops!

So here we are today ready to enter the world of Medium and get down to some serious writing. I’ve got hundreds of articles I plan to write but they all have one main objective and that is to add value to the lives of my readers. Whether it be a great app or product I have in my life or the base plan for a holiday destination I’ve experienced like this article about my trips to Thailand. Not only do I tell you my experiences but I tell you the best way I think you can have those experiences too.

Whatever I write about I want my readers to come away from the article thinking that’s useful or I should show this to my friend, they would find it useful. I want my writing to have a purpose and an impact where it can.

I also feel like Medium has lost its way on the publications front. It’s hard finding decent publications like this one and searching the publications section sometimes feels like walking around a graveyard, everything’s dead!

Once I’ve found my feet I’ll be looking to get a couple of publications up and running. Probably one for Sports and one for Life Experiences so if there are any of you out there who want to try your hand at being an editor then be sure to follow me. I’ve run large social media groups in the past so I know how time-consuming and difficult it can be and that help is such a blessing. Lots of respect for the editors of this publication for the awesome job they’ve done. **EDIT** on the 16th of January my publication went live so give it a follow by clicking here.

So that’s where I’m from and where I want to go. The rest of me enjoys football, running, table tennis, poker, pool, reading, space, the universe, and most importantly board games! Games night is a regular occurrence in our calendar so keep an eye out for all my games night expertise that will be coming your way.

My job in IT allowed me to travel regularly leading me to places like the Golden Hands Bridge high up in the mountains of Da Nang in Vietnam or to jumping out of an airplane over Las Vegas.

I’m an adventurist and I’ve been on plenty of adventures over the years which I’ll get around to writing about in due course. To give you a little taste of what’s to come I’ve been to The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Canada, Las Vegas, Spain, Turkey, France, Bulgaria, and Greece. From the Christmas Markets in Copenhagen to the Coffee Shops of Amsterdam. From racing around the Nurburgring in Germany to seeing the beautiful buildings of Prague, if I were to leave this planet tomorrow, I could quite happily say I’ve experienced life hence the name Kris Talks Life.

FYI - I have no plans about dying tomorrow as that would make this a pretty awkward About Me Story plus I’ve still got a whole bunch of things on my bucket list to tick off.

So, on that note, I’d like to invite you to join me on my journey through the world of Medium by hitting that follow button on my profile. Whilst you’re there, you may as well hit the email subscribe button too so you never miss one of my valuable articles.

What did the writer say when he glued himself to his book? That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! hahahahahaha
