About Me

Let’s start with where I’m from.

I was born in Bournemouth. This is on the south coast of England, with the most fantastic beaches and views out across the bay. I love it. It’s my favourite place to be, especially when the sun’s shining.

I moved to Manchester, in the northwest, when I was about 23 years of age, and have lived here ever since. I am now 53. Not that I feel it!

I’ve always had a young outlook on life.

I live with my wife and stepdaughter. My step-son is away at university (at the time of writing) and I also have three sons from my first marriage.

They’re at various stages; one has recently graduated from university, one is at university and my youngest is doing his GCSEs…

What I Do

When I’m not working as a Business Analyst for an eCommerce retailer, and when I’m not thinking of things to write about, I am a Cub Scout Leader. Also known as Akela.

I’ve been involved in Scouting since my oldest son was 8, and have been a leader for almost 10 years now. Oooh! I just wrote that for the first time and realised how long it’s been.

I like to read – a lot; I love my Kindle. It’s full of all sorts of books, from biographies, thrillers and silly comedies; it just depends on my mood.

I also like to watch films (movies). Usually, a good action/adventure; Indiana Jones is a great one for when I don’t need to think, and I enjoy all of Star Wars (not a Trekkie though, sorry!)

I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. I just find them entertaining. It’s important not to take them too seriously!

I have been making an effort to watch some of the older films that I never saw when they were originally released.

You might be wondering what you’ll read from me.

To be honest, it’s a variety of articles. From general ramblings to more structured posts about life, the universe and everything.

I’m relatively new to Medium, so I’m getting into the swing of things.

Collaboration

I’m not the most extrovert, but I’ll be happy to talk to anyone about productivity-related ‘stuff’; whether that be how to save time, save money or both.

You can contact me here, or find me on Twitter

I do have some houseplants that I look after; at least, they’re still with us, and I have a lovely array of cacti in the window. There’s a post there, somewhere!

I think that’s enough for now. You’ll have to check back to see if I’ve updated anything in the future.

All you need to know is that I like to laugh, have fun, do a damn fine job and make sure that everyone I come into contact with leaves with a great impression.

That’s all.

Thank you for reading
