About Me — Giulietta Passarelli

Hello — First, my name is Giulietta Passarelli. I’m Italian American, born in Manhattan, grew up in NJ. I come from a family of ten. Quite a household we had and events, but we had much love for each other, though it wasn’t always evident yet the love and warmth of care and concern we had for each other was a constant magnet that brought us together and fostered friendship.
I am now mostly a writer of middle grade novels, poems, and short stories, for YA/adults too and always for the ageless. That’s basically my bio, adding that I’m also a poet and soon to be a published author of a poetry chapbook. I spent many years working for state government, had a cleaning business in the past, have certification as a reflexologist/nutrition counselor, and a substitute teacher for elementary school children.
I love children, animals, and support the environment through NRDC and WWF, and always looking to learn how to and find products that treat the planet with respect.
Movies and books are my relaxation and to name a few favorite television series shows I like which are: Shameless, Ray Donovan, Girls, The Alienist, Big Little Lies, True Detective, and Game of Thrones. Hard to get enough of them. Favorite movie, Training Day. Some favorite authors are Sherryl Jordan, Cassandra Clare, Jessica Verday, Robin LaFevers, Amy Plum, Becca Fitzpatrick, Lauren Kate, Janet Evanovich, Neil Gaiman, Dan Brown, L. Frank Baum, Lemony Snicket, Nicholas Sparks, Mary Shelley, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. On my website at http://www.gpassarelli.com I list author/book recommendations, writing prompts, and news that’s updated every first of the month. I read a lot of middle grade and YA novels, as you can probably tell.
I believe in life, in universal love, putting prayers out to the universe always asking light and love to surround everyone each day, including family and friends.
I’m many things. I’m a writer, a poet, a lover, a friend, a sister, an aunt, a mother and grandmother, and a child of the universe. I believe age is just a number. I love the saying and try to adhere to it that there are no mistakes, only information. I love the definition of the opposite of stress, which is love, light, laughter, and life. Probably one of my favorite quotes is by Steve Jobs:
“When you grow up, you tend to get told the world is the way that it is, and your life is just to live your life inside the world and try not to bash into the walls too much. But that’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact. And that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that are no smarter than you. And you can change it. You can influence it. You can build your own things that other people can use. To shake off this erroneous notion that life is just there, and you’re going to live in it, versus embrace it. Change it, improve it. Make your mark upon it. And once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
I hope you follow me here on Medium. I write for the following publications and my writings have been accepted at The Lark, The Bad Influence, An Idea, A New Hello, Freethinkr, and I have been added at The Ascent, but have yet to have anything accepted there, and now currently, About Me has added me also as a writer. I do the happy dance whenever I’m added as a writer or been asked to write for a publication and when writings are accepted.
Last but not least, I am and have created Mimi the Mad Queen on Tumblr.com. You can follow me there also.
The Lark asked us to write something also about ourselves and I turned that into a poem which you might like to read. Here’s the link:
Wishing you all success with your writing and on Medium.
