Some of my most popular stories
General
I am a mum to two gorgeous children- my daughter, who was born in early 2017, and my son, who was born in early 2019. I am an Australian woman from an Italian background. I speak English and Italian, and I would love to learn French too.
My hobbies include reading, writing and any sort of art or craft. I also love travelling and I have travelled to 21 different countries in my life. I can’t wait to take the kids overseas for the first time when the pandemic eventually ends.
Work
I am a secondary school teacher and I began teaching in 2009. I teach Art, English and Humanities, which is a subject here in Australia that combines History, Geography, Economics and Politics.
I also work for myself in two small businesses. In 2014 I started my family photography business, and in 2019 I opened up a spray tanning business.
I often get asked how I do it all, but I work as a teacher at a school two days a week, photograph families one day a week, edit in my free time throughout the week, and spray tan a couple of hours a night, four days a week. It might sound really confusing, but I love it. I never liked the idea of having one job. I get bored and restless easily, so I find having various jobs keeps me on my toes.
Medium
I found out about Medium in mid-2020, and I decided to take up writing in December.
I like to write about the topics I know, including parenting, mental health, self-improvement, finance and business. In February 2021, I became a top writer for parenting on Medium.
Some random facts about me
- I was once almost killed by stampeding elephants while on an elephant safari in Sri Lanka.
- I was fired from a cafe when I was 17 because I lied to get the job. I said that I knew how to make coffee when I had never even used a coffee machine in my life. I don’t know what I was thinking.
- I’m a real wimp when it comes to horror movies. If I watch one, I have to watch an episode of Friends after so that I can fall asleep.
- I got married when I was 26 and I don’t regret getting married so young.
- I once taught Art in Vanuatu as a teaching experience with my university. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I would love to move to Vanuatu for a year or two.
