About Me — Brandy Niremburk
The Condensed Version
The Early Years
I grew up in a tiny town in the southern United States, where I spent most of my childhood riding my bicycle or exploring the woods! At the age of nine, we moved to “town.” Of course, what we referred to as “town” had less than 13k people, so many things remained the same except we got cable TV! This meant MTV! Before, living in the “boondocks” there was only Friday night videos. The discovery of MTV was a pivotal point in my life.
Middle of the Road
Through a series of intentionally skipped-over events, I was emancipated at the age of fourteen and began my journey into adulthood. The years packed into the next few decades threw many obstacles my way. However, I used those tough life lessons to my advantage and carved out my place in the world.
Day to Day
I have a longstanding career in the accounting field, and I am also a full-time student. I returned to college a forty-something, non-traditional student in pursuit of a Professional Technical Writing degree. I’ve almost completed this goal!
Medium
I learned about Medium from a classmate a few weeks ago and feel as if I have stumbled onto a field of poppies! I hope to be able to write articles here often and grow as a writer with each one. I am also looking forward to interacting with my readers and fellow writers!
Writing
Eventually, I hope to make writing my new career path, hence the degree I’m pursuing. Meanwhile, I’m happy to supplement my income here and there. I’m new to sharing my writing with the world, but I am warming up to the idea. I’ve also recently started to build an online presence, whereas before I avoided it as much as possible.
A few Extras
- I am a cat person but am an advocate for all the creatures. It appears I would be called a “zoophilist.”
- Knitting, crochet, sewing, and houseplants are on the top of my hobby list.
- I love to read and still utilize my local library!
- Writing brings me joy. Endorphins surf on my fingertips!
