A Young Man's Love for his Wife
Once there was a young man who was so well-built — six feet tall — with the chiseled features of a male model.
One day he saw a woman who was so simple, at least, he felt that way after looking at her behavior with others at first sight. After a few days of observing her, he found out that she was indeed a tender, considerate, benevolent, and understanding woman. Consequently, he fell in love with that woman.
One day he asked her, “I am head over heels for you. If you are interested, will you marry me?”
“Who are you, sir? I barely even know you. I don’t even know where you come from. It is impossible for me to marry you,” she said.
He said, “that’s okay, it is understandable. You can watch and examine me for a few days and if you are okay with my behavior then you can marry me, otherwise, I will quit.”
After a few days, she found out that he was indeed a nice guy. Hence, she agreed to marry him, and her parents also said yes to their marriage.
Meanwhile, the young man’s father was a rich guy with so much wealth in dozens of towns and villages. So obviously he didn’t agree with his marriage.
His father said, “she agreed to marry you because of your wealth, you fool. Since your childhood, I have been advising you as to how you should be cautious with people, but you didn’t listen.”
“No father, she was completely unaware of my wealth and my assets. She agreed to my proposal solely on the basis of my behavior,” the young man said.
His father didn’t believe it. He said, “You think she agreed to marry you without doing any inquiry of you and your family. She obviously knows what you are and how much wealth you have — that’s the reason she agreed to marry you.”
The young man said, “no father. She knows nothing about our family. She is the most genuine person I have ever seen in my life. I will be happy with her. Please, say yes to our marriage.”
“No, I won’t accept this gold-digger, bitch as my daughter-in-law. If you want my money, assets, and wealth, please leave her,” his father said.
After looking at how his father foul-mouthed his wife, he decided to forsake his family and his wealth. He married her in a church and started a new life with her in one small town.
One bad day, his wife was down with the flu. He consulted a doctor and found out that she contracted a virus that was very lethal and deadly, and unfortunately, the doctor also couldn’t help him.
He searched everywhere for doctors and medication, but no use. Eventually, he discovered that only a sorceress can help his wife’s illness.
So he started his expedition. He walked hundreds of miles, but no one knew where she was. He knew his wife doesn’t have too many days left to save her. His doctor said she hardly has 1-year left in her. He had already finished 6 months of searching for her.
Day by day his despair was increasing. He was also left with little to no money and the chance of finding her looking bleak. On top of that, he was thirsty. At any point in time, he might lose consciousness due to dehydration. At last, he fell down on the ground due to severe dehydration.
One sage found the young man and gave him some medication for a few days. One fine day, he started to wake up slowly and found himself in a stranger’s house.
To his surprise, no one was there in the house. Not long after, the sage came to the house and told him how the sage found him.
The sage inquired about everything. The young man explained his situation, and how badly he needed this particular sorceress.
The sage knew where she lives, and he told him where to find her. Luckily, it was nearby. Before the young man was leaving, the sage had prepared all the eating stuff that is required for his journey and offered it as his help for his quest.
He left the village and started walking towards the sorceress’s cave. Finally, he reached the sorceress’s cave and told his problem — asked her for help.
Just, at the first sight of him — she had fallen in love with him. The sorceress had been unmarried for a long time, and she was so beautiful that even the full moon would feel jealous of her on a starry night. Her voice reminded him of the beautiful nightingale. In short, she was a living beauty goddess. By no means was she unmatchable to the young man. So she right away said that she would help, but only on one condition.
She said, “If you are seeking help then you have to marry me — only then, I will help you.”
“But I am already married, my lady. Moreover, she had taken care of me when I left my family and my wealth,” he said.
“Then forget your wife,” she said.
“I will do whatever you want but save my wife. If you want me to serve as your servant for a lifetime, I will do it. But please help me,” the young man said.
Looking at his condition, the sorceress’s heart melted, so she gave him an option. She said, “okay if you want my help, then you have to answer my puzzle. Is this okay with you?”
“Okay, my lady,” he said.
She asked, “one man was cooking and because of his one wrong move, the oil caught fire — and the whole pan was in flames. He has 3 options:
- He has a bucket full of water
- A small dish towel
- A long-handled spatula
He’s gotta put out the fire, or else, his house could burn down. What should he do?”
“None,” he said.
“But why are three options wrong? — Explain it” she questioned him.
“If we pour water on the pan, it will only make it worse. So that’s not an option. A small dish towel is too small to put the fire out. It’s the same case with a long-handled spatula. Spatula won’t be enough to extinguish the fire,” he said.
“So, what should he do?” she asked.
“First, he needs to remove the pan from the brazier, then I assume that since he had worn a shirt on his body, he has to cover the pan with his shirt to douse the fire,” he said.
The sorceress was satisfied with the young man’s answer and offered him a potion that would heal his wife’s flu. The young man gleefully accepted it and started his return journey and finally, he reached his wife and made her drink the potion.
After a few days, she recovered from the flu and got back to normalcy. Since then, they lived happily ever after.
