Conversely, counting the Russian statement, Ukrainian officials have said Russian forces were driven off the island. Ukrainian forces, because of a well-executed artillery assault, scored a massive victory over the invaders.

“We continue a [military] operation on Snake Island. Last night more than 10 accurate strikes were launched on the island. We are checking the results now, but we have already been informed that one more Pantsir-S1 air defense missile gun system was hit,” Southern Defense Forces Natalia Humeniuk told.
