A True Covid Experience
Prayers in One Hand — Proclamations in The Other

Many of us have had a true covid experience. I actually began the draft of my experience 8 months ago but found it difficult to put on paper.

I was encouraged to finish the draft by DC Crawford’s wonderful story below
Many of us are emotionally drained by the pandemic. Covid interrupted high school graduations, freshman dorms, grad school apartments, etc. I greatly appreciate all the front-line workers, including but not limited to; medical personnel, grocers, truck drivers, retail, restaurants, etc.
As a result of the pandemic, I have been working from home since March 2020. Working from home can be a gift when balanced with a good work ethic. While I didn’t know how long we would be working from home, I decided to purpose this gift of time to launch “Take 5 With Fanae-5” on different platforms in April 2020. The gift of time I reference is not having a total 3-hour commute each day!
Some have insinuated that enjoying remote work makes one an introvert. I disagree!!
Another unsettling result of the pandemic is the politicization of it and trying to navigate it all.
When both of my girls contracted Covid in November 2020 I wanted to scream out to all the naysayers, “Have you or someone you loved ever been touched by Covid”?
I prayed to God and pleaded that my girls’ lives be spared. I also proclaimed that I could not get sick as I had to take care of them.
Taking Care Of My Girls Included But Was Not Limited To The Following *Not being able to hold them in my arms and comfort them as only a mother can do *Preparing meals for them knowing they didn’t have an appetite but hoping they would eat *Leaving their meals outside their bedroom doors *Calling the paramedics when the oldest said she was having problems breathing and had tingling in her legs — the paramedics decided to give her an IV and asked where they could hang it — I told them I would hold it for as long as they needed me to *I created a pandemic central area in our upstairs hallway

I am a woman of faith! Experience has taught me to pray fervently and with reverence to my higher power. I told God what was already known — that I had to care for my girls and to do that, I had to remain healthy.
God answered my prayers!
This is not the first time my girls displayed amazing resilience, but this is the most powerful experience to date! I am so humbled that the Universe used me as the vessel to bring them to Earth for their journey.
