A Thought: The Power of Words

Daily Dose of Philosophy

The power of words! We all have, yet only a few understand the influence that comes with them.

The words we speak

The thoughts that run through our heads may seem profound. However, if we cannot articulate them, then they are lost to time. We take for granted the abilities given to us by the powers at be. It is too easy to lose sight of that which we have, as we use them day in and day out.

But a thought comes; like the muscles we have and the tools we use, the less attention we pay the quicker they wither away. A sharp knife cuts clean, but a dull knife knows not what it cuts. It’s just as likely to cut its owner as its given task.

Attention should be paid to the tools that we use. As with the knife, our words can shape and create, but if neglected they can hurt us just as easily as a dull blade. To know how to articulate our thoughts gives us the keys to open doors and sets us on paths we knew not.

Use your spare time to practice the art. Learn to express your thoughts in a manner that is concise. Make your statements brief yet comprehensive, for truth is spoken in few words but lies are spoken in many.

Pick a task that forces you to express a complex view, with but a few chosen words. Haiku is but one picked out of many of such an exercise. The promise of what lies ahead can only be seen, once the journey is underway.

With time and dedication, all that waits can be taken. The silver tongue awaits those that are willing to take the way. The power of the words, ort not to be forgotten, for it had shaped many of empires as well as destroyed.

I ask once you reunite with the power of words. Use them to show the truth and not for the lies we have come accustom to. However, it is on you, with what you do, with the potential you have.

I implore you to use your words to unveil the truth hidden behind the many lies.

Thank you for taking the time to read my day’s thought. Please leave a comment as to yours, I would love to learn what you think. I hope that you enjoyed it and that you got something from my philosophy. Stay tuned for more from the Daily Dose of Philosophy.
