This is a continuation of The Burned Village, a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition,” initially created by JF Danskin. Head back to the previous installment, The Deceit, or find out how to contribute by clicking here.

The clanging of swords and the screams of battle reverberate through the air.

Out of nowhere, the lead orc appears at your side, his skill matching your own. Together, you become an unstoppable force, cutting through the orcs with ferocity. As you catch your breath, you look around. The villagers are shaken but alive. You face the lead orc, seeing the weight of loss etched across his face as he looks upon his comrades.

His words pierce through the silence, “Now, I cannot go home.”

You consider his words, torn between the desire for vengeance and the possibility of mercy.

Do you:

  1. Decide he is trustworthy and invite him into your group.
  2. Leave him to his misery and move on.
