Getting through the chaos
A Simple Guide to Finding Balance in Disorienting Times
You aren’t failing if you are having a hard time

The disorientation of this time is a theme
I've had quite a few low days this week, I mean, what is happening? It's hard to explain, but I've had a lot of resistance around everything that is going on. I’ve had days of heartbreak about what I am seeing, feeling, hearing, and observing all around the world.
Things are moving so fast and I’m feeling it. I’m feeling like “Oh, I should be doing this” “I should be staying on top of this” and then suddenly there is a new development in the news or in my personal life and that seems to be the nature of this time.
As someone who feels things deeply, I’m constantly feeling this very intense underground energy. And it feels as if so much of what we’re seeing in the world — so much of what we’re shedding — is just a scratch on the surface.
Things are spinning very fast, and a lot that has been hidden is rising to the surface to be dealt with.
Learning to let go of control and resistance
Spiritual leaders all over the world say that over the next 3 to 5 years we’re going to go through a very rapid period of illumination and truth-telling about things we haven’t known.
Yikes! I better brace myself!
Back in 2018 I listened to an astrology podcast, and they said for the coming years there would be a lot of chaos in the world and if you try to make the outer chaos of the world stop, you will suffer.
If you are in constant reaction to the chaos in the outer world — you don’t like it, you want to go away; you want to stop — you will have a hard time.
The advice they gave is that we are going to need to find our people, our sense of purpose, and our place during this time.
I remember at the time thinking the world isn’t even amazing right now, how bad could things get, and now it makes sense.
You aren’t failing if you are having a hard time
The reason I share all that with you is I know in the spiritual community there is the unwritten idea that if you are off-balance, you are failing and I will have to disagree.
To be honest, if you aren't having an off-balance moment right now in these times then you’re either in an extraordinary period of awakening where you are just lifted out of the turbulence and earthly density and that’s great or you are managing to stay out of your body in one way or another which may or may not be good for you.
When we leave our bodies for too long whether it is through addiction or because of trauma that is too painful to deal with, that can have its own consequences many months after we’ve escaped our body in that way.

How you play a part in the transformation might look different
There are people who are designed to be fiery warriors, and you might be one of those. You may say “I am here for the fight,” “I am here to tell my truth,” or “I am going out there to protest” and that is great.
But how you play a part in the transformation might look different to others out there, and that’s okay because you can only be who you truly are in this time in the world.
It’s more than one thing, it’s more than one truth, and more than one area of our lives that are going through a healing process, so for most of us, the overstimulation of this can easily throw us off balance.
Balance isn’t a word I am seeing so much when I look into the outer world and it’s interesting because astrologers have been forecasting for years and I feel like I’m now getting to experience the unbalance they’ve been talking about on a human level.
It’s about what you discern your truth to be
With everything that is happening, my spiritual senses warn me to be wary of believing anything 100%.
It tells me that there is truth in everything, but some things will have more truths than others, and it's really about what you discern your truth to be.
So when you have one person telling you that their story is the truth and the only truth and you have another person telling you the absolute truth, you can stand in the middle and connect with both of their opinions because there is truth in everything. The only difference is that they are rigid in their beliefs.
Your truth may be that you can see some truth in that and some truth in that, but for those of us who can connect to the truth in many, it can be very debilitating to be in a fight.

Learn to control and deal with other people’s emotions
The level of feeling right now on the planet is higher than I’ve ever seen. These are really hard times for everybody, so people are putting their feelings behind every emotion. We put it behind our beliefs, our opinions, and our ideas.
We are unsure what the future will look like. There is anxiety and fear about the climate, politics, and the overall division.
Conscious and unconscious feelings are surfacing too often.
Conscious feelings are those we have control of. We feel them before they come, so we are able to hold space for them. It’s when I feel myself starting to get really angry, and I tell the person making me angry to beware. I’m holding space for my feelings and containing them so I can better control yourself.
The unconscious ones are those that creep up on us unexpectedly and knock us out. Like the time I went on Instagram and saw a picture of a senseless killing that broke my heart. If I didn’t log onto Instagram, I probably wouldn’t have seen it. Or when I turn to CNN to hear Nancy Pelosi saying the world is in flames and the people are refusing to throw water on it.
I didn't see those unconscious feelings coming up and therefore couldn't hold much space for them.
When you are sensitive or an empath, you can feel the emotional frequencies in the air, you realize it, and you learn to better control and deal with other people’s emotions around you. Will you absorb them or look at them differently?
You have to stand back and observe. You decide whether you are going to be on the receiving end of someone else’s unconscious feelings and be attacked by them or you will simply be aware of it, guard and ground your own energy.
People are charged up with feelings and triggering each other — it’s like an emotional storm.
Send dense energies into the earth
The first law of thermodynamics, also known as the Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.
When we absorb the dense energies around us, they do not leave us simply because we screamed really loud or put a hole in the bathroom door. They leave when we let them pass through us.
The energy in us is connected to the energy of the universe. The spiritual community calls it the chakras. The chakra is literally a wheel of spinning energy vortex aligned inside the human body.
When your body is disrupted by the energy you absorb from the environment, you need to let the energy move through you into the earth to be transmuted. The earth is what keeps us grounded when times are disorienting.
When you are having a really hard time, check-in with the body to see if the energies that lie in your spine are all balanced and aligned. If the root chakra energy is off and not aligned, you feel unstable.
Energy from the universe enters through the crown chakra and dense energy exits through the root chakra.
Find your new normal
You can't get to where you need to go as a person, as a society, and as a whole without going through this chaos, even though it is uncomfortable to our identities, our habits, and our sense of comfort and safety. It's not that we can't still find those things, we are asked to find them in different ways.
We all know that nothing feels like it did before, but the message is to find your new normal.
For those of us who are feeling purposeless at the moment, it is often uncomfortable in the beginning — it’s not usually that you lose things you were relying on or connected to (jobs, people, and things) and immediately “rebirth!”
We usually have to go through a bit of a grieving period, a lost and disorienting moment before we can transform and rebirth into something else.
That is the current energy of the entire world right now. We are all going through our loss and grief period for a much bigger transformation.
Accept the things you are struggling with
When you fight when you have feelings of hopelessness, everything is longer. The suffering and pain are longer. The feelings running in you is energy and won’t leave you until you do something with it.
When you don’t do this, it takes longer. It takes longer because you have a lesson to learn — and the lesson isn’t to suffer — the lesson is to learn to quickly accept the things we are feeling and let them go.
This isn’t to say that the anger, the grief, and the loss won’t be there — they will — because they serve a purpose. Negative emotions get a bad name, but negative emotions are still energy in motion and we have to allow all of them because they are a part of us.
I acknowledge the pain I feel; I honor it and then it goes away.
When you accept what you are struggling with, the thing you are struggling with starts to dissolve.

Find the things that will make you stable first
When I’m having a hard time, I ask myself, “Do I have enough of the things that I need around me?” And those needs are fundamental and not material things.
It’s knowing what calms me, what slows me down, and what soothes me. It’s knowing what helps me to come back to the center.
For me, it’s immediately telling my ‘self’ that I am okay and everything is going to be okay. And sometimes that looks like taking myself to sleep when things felt too heavy. It’s getting in the bed and pulling the covers over my head.
The other day, everything was too overwhelming. It was around 6 pm; I slept for two hours and I woke up and it was a little better. Then I went to sleep again at bedtime.
Sleep is a place of renewal, recharge, and reset. Let her sleep, for when she wakes she will move mountains.
I really enjoy sleep because it is one of my safe places. A lot happens in my dreams that sometimes helps me make sense of what’s going on in my life.
Other days it’s screaming really loudly into the pillow and letting the pent up energy out of my system. And when I’m calm, I pray and I meditate. It works to stabilize me.
For you, it could be another person who holds you down when times are tough. It could be going to the gym to work out to release pent-up energy. Or it could be crying. It works every time.
The person who stands after a teary meltdown rises to transcend hopelessness into hope.
Final thoughts
The disorientation of this time is a theme, and even though many of us might complain about the confusion and uncertainty, it’s clear that this is the design of this time.
We are supposed to be pulled out of our old patterns, our ego identities, and everything we’ve known.
We have to learn to let go of control and resistance. Accepting the things you are struggling with makes the death and rebirth process go smoothly.
Allow and accept all emotions that are flowing through you. When things get too overwhelming, do the things that stabilize you. Sleep, scream, cry, pray, and meditate.
Remember that there is truth in everything but be mindful of the information you consume because overstimulation can throw you off balance.
Guard, ground, and strengthen your energy. Do chakra healing work to make sure that the energies flowing in your spine are balanced and aligned.
And most importantly, understand that you aren't failing if you are having a hard time. You are not alone in the chaos and the entire world is with you.
The place you go to when you don’t feel capable of getting through the chaos is inwards. The key is to find your lighthouse in the chaos that is coming and already here.
The faster way to get over chaos is to do what you need to do to be stable.
