A Silly Smitten Poem
To the Love of My Life
I am a hospice volunteer. This morning I sat with a friend whose wife passed away last night. We talked, sang and cried together. The last time I saw them together was at church. We exchanged big smiles and were happy to see each other. Sickness and disease can be so cruel. She was a fighter. He misses her terribly.
As I tried to sleep tonight I kept thinking of how much I love my husband.
I had words running through my brain and they wouldn’t stop speaking.
So, I crawled out of bed and started writing them down.
After writing this silly poem, I finally could sleep.
I hope you enjoy it.
Please remember to love the one you are with.
Treat your honey well.
Love your honey deeply.
Be grateful for every moment you have with each other.
My Silly Smitten Poem
The thought of living my life without you…DEVASTATION
My heart feels flattened at the thought…DEFLATING
My soul feels empty at the thought…DEAD SPACE
My love, I hope you know how magnificent you are to me…DECADENT
I love seeing you light up when I walk into a room…DELIGHTED
I love feeling you breathe next to my body…DEPENDABLE
I love holding your hand…DYNAMIC
My life is better with you in it…DEFINITELY
I’m delighted in my dependable, dynamic, decadent lover…definitely! -Joi Lake
