DAY 5 OF 30 OF THE ADVENTUROUS APRIL WRITING CHALLENGE

A Silly Poem About Chocolate, Cheese, or Cheerios?

A response to the most random of writing prompts this month

So, as you may have seen now in two of my past stories, I’ve toyed with acrostic poetry twice now. Acrostic poetry is essentially when your poem spells out a word or phrase at the beginning of each line. I’ve taken to that style even more than I initially took to haikus and I love to write haikus.

Maybe I thought that I wasn’t very poetic in the past but my last couple of poems have received a few compliments and a bit of attention. I almost didn’t want to do today’s poem because of the ridiculousness of the prompt. I decided to give it a try here. This one is just for fun anyway and is a response to a fun yet random prompt

My Ode to Chocolate, Cheese, and Cheerios (Silly Acrostic Poem)

Hurray, it is breakfast!!

Oh, my, what is that?

Wow, chocolate, cheese, and Cheerios for breakfast

Do these foods even make sense together?

Of course, they do, it’s breakfast. Anything to start the day

You just have to get creative and you can make it work

Only if you start with the cheese first though

Unless you enjoy chocolate but everything will taste like it after

Love Cheerios? Well, don’t eat those first.

In case you do, you can always drink the milk out of the bowl

Kindly put your bowls away after eating everything

Eat the cheese by itself or else you risk blending flavors that don’t go together

Take your time between each serving

Hurry only if you need to but you can always save something for later

I recommend bringing a lunch pail with you if you really like all three of these things

Someone was hungry this morning randomly assembling your breakfast

Open the flavor later but don’t put your bowl of cereal in the pail

Never mix the cheese with the cereal unless you want more gas

Eat everything when you can and if you do eat it all at once

Kill your coworkers with kindness by spraying around your desk as the day goes on

Even though you have finally found a silly combination of food, this is not very brilliant

Excellent planning will get you through these erratic decisions going forward

Love yourself by never doing this again

Enough already!! We get it, you’re random and creative

You need to definitely figure out a different combination for breakfast next time

How do you like this one, Keeley?

Was this silly enough to qualify for the poem for this writing prompt? Did the rest of you enjoy this goofiness? Should I continue doing more poetry? So many questions? Not enough answers. Not enough days in the week to answer every question. Oh, well, at least I’ll never eat chocolate, cheese, and Cheerios together ever again. Oh, wait, did you say that we didn’t have to do that to complete the challenge? Well, now I’m going to have to politely excuse myself while I go to the bathroom.
