A Shot of Hope
Monday prompt
“It is the dawn of a new day, and it is raining cats and dogs. Like a child, dance in the rain, and forget your sorrows.” ― Michael Bassey Johnson, Song of a Nature Lover
Nothing can beat the rain and the freshness it brings along. I love stepping out in the fresh rain to feel the drops pouring from the sky. Those little drops have the ability to transform the dead fields into lush green pastures. It injects happiness to enlighten our souls.
Spring is here. We had a week-long spring break last week. Kids were busy in their scouts camp while I was invited by a bunch of friends to this park near my house for a meetup after a very long time. The park was already surrounded by colorful flowers and their sweet fragrances. The weather was cool. We had received some drizzle in the morning. The water droplets shining on the leaves amplified the overall effect of the rain. It was the perfect time to be outdoors.
Since all of our friends have been vaccinated, it has now given us new hope and courage to face the world. To be with each other. Physically.
It was the first time that we were feeling elated. Long stormy weather overshadowed our lives for the past year. The rising death counts around the globe, watching loved ones succumbing to the virus, and navigating life amidst the chaos definitely took a toll on most of us.
The vaccination is a silver lining that is trying to cover the hole drilled by the Covid-19 virus in our social fabric. I am grateful and happy that I am was able to make it this far. I am a part of those few millions who have got their shot of hope.
The pandemic is not over yet but the vaccination rollout has definitely given us a head start toward the brand new world. The elbow bumps are slowly turning into a hug. The distance is getting narrower and the smiles wider.
