I was sorting old collections at my mom’s place when all of a sudden this pale-looking envelope caught my attention. Intrigued, I opened it up to see a piece of folded paper nicely tucked inside.
I unfolded it to check what was there and to my surprise, it was a handwritten letter dated back to the early ‘80s. It was for my mom from her father (my grandfather).
My mom was from India but got married and moved to Pakistan. My grandfather couldn’t attend the wedding due to visa issues between both countries.
Personal letters always have a distinct aura. The beautiful writing of my grandfather carried the weight of his emotions effectively. He poured his heart out on the paper. His raw emotions paired with the honest words were simply beautiful. It was full of good wishes for my mom.
