A Reminder About a POMprompt Rule Many Are Getting Wrong
That stupid tag thing — I know, it’s annoying.

Let’s get this as simple as possible:
- Find a POMprompt post you want to do. Here’s the link for them.
- Learn how to do a POMprompt HERE.
- Write your POMprompt response. (This will be a new draft.)
- Put a LINK to the POMprompt you used within your draft, usually at the bottom with something nice like: This poem was written in response to the POMpromt blah blah. Here is the link so you can write one too…. …(LINK)
- Just use the link to the POMprompt you used.
- Paste it at the bottom of your draft
- Hit enter. It will make a little box advertisement for the original POMprompt post.
Then, you must use the CORRECT TAG.
USE THE CORRECT POMPROMPT TAG LIKE THIS:
- Go to where you add your tags.
- Type this EXACT THING: pomprompt (or you can write it with the capitals and it still works: POMprompt) As long as it is ONE WORD, it works.
- ONE WORD. NO SPACE. NO PERIOD.
- A prompted tag will pop up that says “pom prompt” IGNORE THAT AND JUST HIT ENTER AFTER YOU’VE TYPED IN YOUR ONE WORD TAG.
That’s it.
If you do not follow these instructions, here’s what happens:
- The editors have to do it for you and that makes them cranky.
- Your story gets LESS VIEWS because it will NOT go up on both the main page AND the POMprompt page.
I realize this is a glitchy, annoying thing, but SO many people have used “pom prompt” two words that it now pops up as a suggested tag and that is NOT the tag we use here at The POM.
Why can’t I just change it to a two word tag on our end? — Because I’ve left instructions for this in MULTIPLE posts and newsletters and I really don’t want to have to do all the legwork to change that on my end. It’s a simple fix if people would just follow the instructions.
When you make it two words — you are making an error in your POMprompt submissions.
If anyone has questions, we are here to answer them — but please, please read the suggested links that ANSWER the questions clearly.
