PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE

A Rainbow for Dennett

Third Week of September

Life is a series of ups and downs. One person could be celebrating their best day, and another could be suffering their worst.

This week I saw it firsthand, this rhythm. It allows us to all support each other, literally, through life and death. One friend lost her mother, and another entered her 3rd trimester of a long-awaited pregnancy. I believe this rhythm exists so that when one is down, there are always others to pull them up.

Nature comforts me. I didn’t have a lot of words for this week's photos, but I found uplifting perspectives to share in quotes. It is always good to have a collection of kind words to cheer ourselves up or to share with others on the days that need more light.

Day 1

When our worlds turn upside down, it takes a lot of hands to turn it right side up. Hold tight. — unknown

Day 2

It’s a tunnel, not a cave. ― Richie Norton

Day 3

A tree’s most important means of staying connected to other trees is a “wood wide web” of soil fungi that connects vegetation in an intimate network that allows the sharing of an enormous amount of information and goods. A tree is not a forest. On its own, a tree is at the mercy of wind and weather. But together, many trees create an ecosystem. ― Tim Flannery, The Hidden Life of Trees

I always link Dennett’s last post as an invitation for others to join. As usual, I checked to see if Dennett posted this week. She hadn’t. My heart went out to her. Just then, a heavy rainshower moved into my sun-filled backyard. I have been chasing rainbows all summer. I haven’t found one, even when the conditions were perfect like this. I rushed out in the rain, and there it was. A bright beautiful rainbow stretched across the sky. I didn’t feel like it was for me. It was for Dennett.

There is a garden of kindness, learning, and adventure growing in the Photo-A-Day Challenge. It was planted by Dennett. Let’s keep watering it. This rainbow is for her!

Thanks for reading! I hope everyone feels showers of well-wishes when they need them.
