A Purrfect Playlist for My Purr Monster
Cats deserve playlists too
I am often tagged to participate in musical writing challenges. This is usually done by Pierce McIntyre. You can imagine the shock and horror I experienced seeing this article he posted that was not a writing challenge:
Did Pierce not realize this was writing challenge catnip for a feline fanatic like me? I wrote a great travelogue co-starring my cat for another musical writing challenge:
Purr-haps he was unaware how often Zak does look over my shoulder as I type, especially when he’s obsessing over wanting to sit in this chair. Does it matter? NOPE. Zak’s mostly offended that to date I haven’t made him his very own playlist of songs to ignore. The only soundtrack he’d love to hear all his waking hours is the sound of his kibble or Greenies treats shaking like he’s about to get fed some.
Without further ado, here are some songs that my feline fella may approve of. They might not even include the Friskies jingle!
“All You Can Eat” by The Fat Boys
Zak’s lifelong dream in a nutshell. A gravity dry food dispenser will not suffice. He wants the kitty version of being able to go and get fresh(ish) food handed to him non stop until he decides he’s full.
“Living In A Box” by Living In A Box
If he fits, he sits. He’s currently asleep in one that came today.
“Ain’t Too Proud To Beg” by the Temptations
Not only a true fact about him, but he approves of any band named after a brand of cat treats. SHHHH. Let him believe what he wants to believe.
“The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine (Anymore)” by Frankie Valli
He’s lucky to get three months worth of sunbeams to sunbathe in here in the Pacific Northwest. No real Four Seasons just like in the album this song is from!
“Turn Up The Sunshine” (From ‘Minions: The Rise of Gru’ Soundtrack) by Diana Ross & Tame Impala
The title already suggests a feline friendly song. On top of that, Zak is fascinated by The Minions. He also loves watching weather reports and news tickers that scroll across the bottom of the screen. All this video needs is real life squirrel footage and it would be the best viewing material.
“It’s My Life” by Talk Talk
I could claim this is here for the song. It’s really because it’s what was on when I learned Zak really liked to watch TV. He just sat there staring in awe at the screen. The kangaroos in particular fascinated him.
“Jump” by Kris Kross
There are many songs that could represent Zak’s love of jumping. This one is performed by two young kids who wanted to look tough and wore their clothes not as intended. Zak wants to look tough and uses many things not as intended.
“Wake Up” by Arcade Fire
Zak yells this at me more times than he needs to.
“Itchin’ For A Scratch” by Force M.D.’s
Sometimes Zak wants me to give him scratchies so bad, he’ll attempt to direct my fingers to the desired spot on his face.
“Love Me” by Bee Gees
Yes, Zak, I will!
