A Positive Thought For Your Day: A Sure and Simple Way to Improve Your State of Mind

I’ve got one simple thought to change your state of mind and feel good.

I use an app, headspace, for meditating. Meditating has truly changed my life and headspace really has made it so much easier for me.

There are days when my mood is so funky that even meditating feels impossible. If you don’t meditate or haven’t tried it, you may wonder how sitting still and breathing can be so difficult.

Well, my mind can drive me crazy when there’s a lot on it. When I sit and attempt to meditate with a monkey mind (a Buddhist term for a restless mind aka a trillion thoughts), I feel like I could come out of my skin. Does anyone relate?

Headspace is great because you can set it to provide you with daily quotes that pop up on the home screen of your phone.

The other day, my many thoughts were overwhelming me from meditating. Then, this quote popped up on my home screen:

“We tend to acknowledge negative mind states when they ‘arise,’ but when did you last acknowledge the ‘end’ of one?”

I LOVE THIS.

We seriously take note of negativity on our brain and dwell on it. At least, I do. But, eventually, the negativity goes away. Do we take note of that?

How different could our state of mind be if we said to ourselves:

Hey, check it out. Your negative thoughts are gone.

I have tried this a couple of times lately. I feel the weight lifted off my shoulders when I notice that a clear mind or a positive thought replaces the previous negative state of mind. I challenge you to try it, too.

“We tend to acknowledge negative mind states when they ‘arise,’ but when did you last acknowledge the ‘end’ of one?”

More on the feel goods —
