A Poem Will Catch You
a poem
Close your eyes and trust, believe
A poem will catch you
Like a spider’s web a butterfly net a squirrel trap a bear trap a mine
Like a pillowy hammock like freshly raked Autumn leaves
Like a broken zipper on your coat or Snowday snow
Like a mother’s arms or your best friend’s or your own
Like a spoon in the sauce a hot cocoa mug a soup bowl
A poem will catch you
But only your heart can say How you land
