A Packed Beach
A packed beach during the pandemic but social distancing is still important

In England, we are now slowly trying to get back to normal but for the vulnerable it’s much harder. We are still in some sort of lockdown but we can go out as much as we want but still have to social distance from people other than those in our own household.
At the moment, it’s a bank holiday weekend and the weather is sunny and warm and people want to go out and sit in it. Beaches and parks are packed. So what do we do? Do we still visit a beach or a park?
The answer is, we must still social distance. We are allowed to sit in the sun but we must still keep at least two meters distance from other people who are not in our own household. You can meet one person outside sitting in fresh air (but not inside your home) whilst staying two meters away from them. Coronavirus is still around so we must stay alert. We must be careful as people are still dying from COVID-19. There are thousands still contracting the virus each day.
So, here is a poem to describe what we must do, especially if we are thinking of going to the beach or the park or somewhere outside.
A packed beach or park
A packed beach Or park Can be bliss But keep away From others As COVID Still exists.
Invisibility Is its power As it moves And attacks Our lives While it Thrives in silence Forceful Scornful Melting life When it’s rife.
People gather Close by Sitting And laying On the ground, Their bodies Breathing And streaming Spreading Their sweat Around.
Who knows Where it is Who knows If it’s alive It’s a risky Business I concur.
The young Maybe safe Asymptomatic Or showing no Ill effects To contain it inside So no one will die.
What is happening? Is it harsh to think That the virus Will never vanish Or diminish away Leaving us In peace No longer Lurking.
Will we survive? So we can Sit on a beach Sit on the grass Not worrying Who will walk by?
So, do not sit, Or walk near others As they leisurely Get fresh air, Because this virus Will never leave us. It will kill humanity Our businesses Our economy Our livelihood As we know it.
It will lurk In our towns In our cities For longer Than we know Or alas, forever, If we do not Stay inline Protecting Our humanity Our normality Our demise Our futile Sacrifice Whilst we Social distance From families, Parents, Grandchildren, As weeks And years Go by.
