Summary

The Fiction Friends Library is temporarily halting new submissions to undergo renovations aimed at improving story visibility and reader engagement, with plans to reopen with enhanced features and contributor benefits.

Abstract

The latest edition of The Story List announces a brief pause on new story submissions to the Fiction Friends Library. This decision follows deliberations on improving the library's functionality and ensuring that submitted stories receive the attention they deserve. The library has recently added a new humorous short story and is taking a break from accepting new content to overhaul its system for better reader access and story exposure. The curator has emphasized that the renovations will cause minimal inconvenience to past contributors and promises new benefits and options upon reopening. The newsletter itself will also undergo updates, and contributors and readers are encouraged to stay tuned for the improvements.

Opinions

  • There is an anticipation of minimal disruption to contributors whose works have already been submitted.
  • The curator expresses excitement about the future of Fiction Friends and the Medium platform, indicating a positive outlook on the upcoming changes.
  • Contributors and readers are invited to engage with the existing collection of stories and to look forward to the new system's benefits.

Welcome to the latest edition of The Story List!

There’s been a bit of a delay with this week’s issue because of some deliberation about the next step for Fiction Friends, but more on that in a moment.

First, let’s get to this week’s additions to the library!

New stories in The Fiction Friends Library

We have one new story in the library this week!

In Humor, we have a slice-of-life romcom short story involving moving in together — with a cat.

Thanks to Casey Lawrence for your story submission!

And now, putting a brief pause on new submissions

A couple weeks ago, I wrote that renovations were on the way for the library, and the time has come to put a pause on accepting new story submissions.

I’ve debated about whether or not to wait until after Medium Day to do these renovations — hence the delay with this week’s issue! — but at this point, I’ve gathered enough data to know that the library really does need a bit of an overhaul, and I don’t want to keep accepting new submissions until these issues have been sorted out.

Your stories deserve more readers, and the current version of the library just isn’t cutting it. It’s time to fix it!

Rest assured that any inconvenience to people who have already submitted stories will be minimal. Plus, the new system will come with some new benefits and options for contributors, so please look forward to that!

Keep an eye out for changes in this space, too: this newsletter will also receive an update as well.

Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed so far! There are exciting times ahead for Fiction Friends and Medium, and the library will be open to new submissions again soon.

In the meantime, check out all the stories that have been submitted up until now!
