A New Journey Begins
Invest in yourself.
Every morning when you awake, you can choose how your day will go. Will you groan and stagger out of your cosy nest? Or turn on your side, swing your feet to the floor and say:
Good morning world, what’s scheduled for today?
You can leave the groaning and staggering in the past. Embrace the day. You’ve heard all the positive quotes from fans of each new dawn. Now is the time to make some of your own.
“Each new day is a blank page in the diary of your life. The secret of success is in turning that diary into the best story you possibly can.” ― Douglas Pagels
Inspire yourself!
Make a plan for your day, week, month, and year. If that sounds too much, just look at today or tomorrow. Decide you will start the day with a smile. Break your fast, sit down or stand (far healthier) at your desk, and check your schedule.
Today I will:
- research and write one story about my new career as a freelance writer
- read stories on Technology Hits and review them for Karen’s Weekly Technology Hits Review
- review an article I wrote last year and adapt it to suit another platform.
- aim to finish them today but it is okay if one or two spill into tomorrow
Stress over not finishing a task is no help. I started at 8:15 this morning. I will take regular breaks, including an hour for lunch. I will finish at 4:15 this afternoon.
Then I plan to go for a long walk along the promenade or the beach if the tide is out. I plan to make dinner around 7:00 PM and sit down to relax for a few hours with a favourite TV show or a new movie.
Write your plans for the day.
Share them with someone.
I’d be happy to hear them.
A plan for today on its own provides an excellent start to what you want to achieve today. But what about tomorrow? The same thing maybe.
Plan for tomorrow today
We must decide what we are aiming for tomorrow, next week, next month, next year and five or ten years' time.
Are you aiming for a promotion in the next few months or by next year? What do you need to do to prepare for that? Do you possess all the requisite skills? What could you do to impress and improve your chances with the interviewer?
