A Morning Walk
The day after the rain

After last night’s camping in the rain a lovely sunrise is greeting me as I climb out of our tent. The temperatures cooled down a bit and the air is clean. Like always in this country. Without doing any research I would say Namibia has one of the cleanest air to breathe.
While the camp is still asleep I grab my camera and follow the trail further up the valley. Raindrops are hanging on the lush green grass. Butterflies are dancing in the morning sun.

Flowers shoot high out of the grass in the reach for more light and sunshine. Flies are all around me. Not a breath of wind is blowing. It might be getting a hot day.

I do see some tracks of a small antelope that walked past here after the rain. In the distance, our camp is seen amidst the vegetation. This has been such a stunning wild camping spot.

Yesterday, we came down out of the Khomas Highlands and chose this spot for the night with great views onto the mountains. It was very quiet. Except for some thunder rolling in the distance.
Such a peaceful place.

My feet are wet from walking in the high grass. I wanted to take a different trail back to camp. But walking across the field in the high grass appeared to be impossible. Bushes and broken down trees are blocking my way.
A washed-out riverbed is creating a small canyon.

This where I’m home. In nature. Surrounded by nothing but nature. Listening to the birds singing. Feeling the sun on my skin. Smelling last night’s rain. Seeing all this beauty around me.

Thank you for another wonderful day in paradise. Because that is what it is for me. When a country starts to bloom after years of drought it appears in the shape of paradise.
