A Moment Of Gratitude Comes From Unforeseen Circumstances. We Treasure What We Have When We Are About To Lose it.

Life lessons come from all angles. It can be painful at times.

I struggled a lot to write this morning. It has nothing to do with motivation, lack of reception, low dollar generation, or low follower count. Nope, none of that.

I struggled because I couldn’t lift my left arm beyond a certain angle. Getting it to twist to an angle that supports my typing motion hurts me.

I injured myself after planking last night. I wanted to demonstrate to my spouse how a plank looks like when our bodies are leveled, showing how the glutes and core muscles work to keep us horizontal.

The planking itself was okay. It was when I finished. I rolled over to my left and sprained my left arm. I know that is embarrassing, but hey, shit happens. When that happened, it sent a sharp shock from my left arm to the entire body.

It hurt badly.

I do not know how it happened.

It was as if I slightly dislocated my arm. Fortunately, the arm got back to the shoulder socket in 5 minutes, and the sharp pain subsided. The tremors remain. I was unable to remove my top without excessive body movements and contributions from my right arm. I had trouble bathing and putting on my pajamas.

I was much better this morning, but my left arm needed more rest. It vigorously trembled when it was grabbing my smartphone. And I needed more energy to clench my fist (which hurts when I did it) compared to my right.

And then, I had trouble typing. I did not have issues writing because my master hand is the right arm. But to type and publish a story requires both, or I will never be able to finish my work.

It began to hurt when I started typing. I had to frequent rest between paragraphs because my left arm gets numb from maintaining the posture required for typing.

I made more edits while I type because the fingers from the left arm did not have the extended reach they used to have. I was able to hit the ‘T’ button with ease previously. Today, I kept punching the ‘E’ and ‘R’ buttons when I really wanted to hit the ‘T’ button. I had to reposition my wrist laterally instead of pivoting my palm from left to right to reach the correct alphabets.

Simply put, pivoting the wrist shifts the angle of my left arm relative to the desk. It hurts when the pivot goes beyond 10 degrees to the left or right.

The sharp pain made me appreciative of my limbs and my ability to type and share my ideas.

Everyone wants the good stuff from writing. The top of the list includes money, followers, and visibility.

What about gratitude? How about our ability to do what we do, to do what we love to do?

That matters too.

I never knew that I treasure my ability to type dearly.

But I learn.

And even when it hurts just to type this simple story, I am deeply appreciative to have made it this far.

Are you appreciative of your ability to type and to share your stories with others?

Yes, you should be. Now, go do your best and type away!
