A Meditation Technique to Stabilize and Distance Yourself from the Craze of Everyday Life.
Mindfulness is your superpower.

Do you have that feeling when you bear too much upon your shoulder, chasing one thing after another, competing for ticking off yet another point on your to-do list?
Who exactly are you competing with? Your monkey mind.
At the end of the day, you feel overwhelmed, dissatisfied with the pace of your life, only to find how unproductive your twenty-four hours have turned out?
I can hardly recall that feeling. I used to be that hamster on the wheel. Not any more. Due to regular practice of mindfulness, keeping my thoughts in check, I get to own responsibility for my reactions and craft them consciously.
Whatever is unfolding in your life, it occurs because of the beliefs deeply ingrained in your subconscious mind since childhood. We imitate the behaviour of our parents, teachers, peers, media we are exposed to. We establish beliefs, usually very limiting, only so we can learn how to break them later on, in adult life.
Unfortunately, many of us follow them mindlessly, not being aware of having autopilot reactions programmed in our minds.
Beliefs you need to re-establish.
The world does not happen to you, but through you.
Everything you experience is a manifestation of your past thought patterns. Whenever you perceive the world through the lenses of fear, that is exactly what you are going to receive.
Whenever you look at others’ achievements from the perspective of lack: I will never be able to manage that, or jealousy: They did not work hard enough to get it, the circumstances of your life will unfold precisely in tune with your narrative.
So in fact, you are the one creating obstacles through your limited beliefs. You will only perceive more unfairness and resentment. You cannot cultivate happiness or prosperity from the place of lack. The constant assumption of not having enough is not a recipe for success, but a formula for mental poverty. Once you can organize the chaos inside your mind, the external confusion gradually phases out.
You are responsible for your creation.
How you respond to whatever happens is your paycheck in the form of people you interact with, possibilities to earn money, a helping hand from a stranger.
When you react with anger and resentment towards your manager who happens to forget your monthly bonus (again!), the situation will not change until you manage your response. Until you change your attitude towards your executive, or your job, their response will remain the same. They are not omitting you unconsciously, but because through your unappreciative energy, you sabotage your chances for better opportunities.
Taking responsibility means mindfully designing your every response to the next unfolding of your life. Coining circumstances, no matter how uncomfortable they may seem, into gratitude, guidance propel profitable results.
Be the change you want to perceive.
I get that the world is hectic, and it is easy to distract yourself with the hustle and bustle of the modern lifestyle. How am I supposed to observe my reaction every minute?
You can control your emotions. You can regulate your responses. It takes willingness. Care so much that no external distractions can drag you away from tendering to your happiness and peace of mind. Every shift you wish to encounter outside, needs to be initiated through you, thus start by changing how you perceive the world, people you interact with. When you expect the change, backed up by unwavering certainty in your creative power, you get to experience the change.
Here is a very simple and extremely effective mindfulness practice which you can do anytime, anywhere.
- Close your eyes and imagine that you are standing on the top of a mountain. This very top is the present moment.
- Behind you is your past (all the people you knew, all experiences, your feelings); in front of you is your future (your fantasies and what may or may not come next).
- You are just sitting on top of the mountain, detached to both sides, they can’t affect you because you are physically on top of a mountain with no access to each side.
- Just stay there for 2–3 minutes. You can increase the time each time you practice.
When you practice it daily, it will become increasingly easier and more effective as you learn to switch off from the influence of the outside world and focus on the internal feelings instead.
In our chaotic world, we are bombarded with hundreds of stimulants fighting for our attention; from news, advertisements, social media to direct access from everyone due to mobiles and wireless connection, it became difficult to cultivate time and space for ourselves.
Our bodies respond to the tension of fast pace we centred ourselves in, pleading us to slow down, as they cannot handle the prolonged period of stress. Fear arises inside our minds, nudging us to keep up with the external influences.
In reality, you only have to be present, because in the present there is no fear.
Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.
— Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
When you worry about the future or doubt your past endeavours, your energy is focused outwards. While meditating and anchoring in the present moment, being fully aware of your thoughts and emotions in the now, no fear resides, as energy is driven inwards, healing your nervous system.
I encourage you to practice mindfulness throughout the day. With time, it will become your new habit.
You are responsible for the unfolding of your day. Craft it mindfully.
Go on, approach that mountain. You deserve a better view.
