A Love Journey
A journey in poetic prose
Empty, numb, swollen with self-doubt, she followed the routine that her waking self needed to keep treading water. Nose peeking above the mirrored, sometimes choppy, surface, tired eyes watching the overly busy world, legs wearily keeping her afloat.
Carefully, attentively, deliberately, she embraced an opportunity. A shining-star of self-care, self-love slipped into her psyche, filling her tired soul with light, hope, space. Buoyant joy melted away her doubt, stripping bare that soul so weighted with life’s expectations, illness, responsibility.
Tending, nourishing, feeding her inner light with nutrient-rich fuel, its glow reached out to the ether, tentatively exploring the potential an open heart can bring. And there he was! Exquisite, joyous, glowing! Another light-filled soul that sang her tune.
Capable, creative, caring. Giving oxygen to the slow-burning embers within her once-numb soul. Starting a fire, a passion, a deep-burning love, launching her new body, mind, soul, out of the stagnant pond and into an endless, visionary, hopeful future.
Into the Universe. Together.
Author’s Note:
Sometimes a love journey is about the self-love we each deserve to have for ourselves.
Caring for yourself, accepting yourself, and loving yourself can open your heart and create even more love — love for others, acceptance for others.
A self-love journey rarely comes without pain, sacrifice, and change which can bring its own challenges. Fear is often a barrier to change and self-love because we are programmed to avoid pain. Fear is a natural instinct to keep us safe.
But when it comes to emotions, fear can keep us stunted and narrow, numb and disconnected. Embrace fear. Feel the feelings that come with it and then move on. Know that the feelings will pass, however uncomfortable they may be at the time.
The feelings that come with fear are more invigorating than feeling numb and can allow you to grow and change and blossom.
