MARCH PAPER POETRY SERIES

A Lifetime Of Fika Time To Enjoy

A sonnet series part 3 of 4

(Fika sonnet draft) Photo by William J Spirdione

There’s little children running all about and Mark calls out to Jim’s wife, “Grab my beer!” ”Hope cake and coffee makes it in, no doubt, that bag right near the cooler, my sweet dear.”

With young ones rounded up for birthday cake the Boss now signals Mark and Jim while I call back to others, “Time for fika break!” We now know what it is with years gone by.

Walk up the short and rocky woodland trail to granite outcrop right above the pond. Some upturned logs and fire ring tell the tale. Jim strikes a match. We share this lifelong bond.

Smoke rises up on this late afternoon, a lifetime’s fika flicker by so soon.

The above sonnet is #3 in a series. Below are the links for #1 and #2.
