MARCH PAPER POETRY SERIES
Lifetime of Fika Have Another One
A sonnet series part 2 of 4

”Looks like you two are trying to sneak out,” the boss growled forth from that construction site. “Just get to work, you loser,” Jim did shout. A wonder there was never once a fight.
A hammer thrown with force down on the cart. His ladder loudly clanking to the floor. Mark says, “It’s time for fika if we’re smart.” We grab our things and head right out the door.
To sit outside on folding camping chairs together on the mill’s old brick sidewalk. Hold steaming cup of coffee watch the stares at scrumptious tray of pastries while we talk
and straight ahead the raging river flows, relax, take three deep breaths, in through the nose.
Thank you, Indubala Kachhawa, and Paper Poetry for inviting me to write this March poetry series on the theme ‘fika’.
PS: Editorial Note : Paper poetry conducts themed poetry series every month. This month’s theme is of Swedish origin, fika: a moment to slow down and appreciate good things in life. If you want to be a part of this, kindly read this.
