POETRY

A Fortunate Time to Write

A free verse poetry response to “writing and living” prompt

The wet season is here, warm rains are broken up By hot sunny days, however, the rain rules. There are days when powerful storm’s blow in, All that is not well fixed down, plays More than an “Unchained Melody” rattling Around inside my head.

To be honest, I don’t mind the raining season, As the dry season delivers heat upon heat For months on end and you end up praying for just a little rain.

I have found time to concentrate on writing In this wet season without the distractions Dry season brings with so many tourist’s needs To be catered for in this now closed Little restaurant where I live on the beach.

Just like here in Vagabond Voices there are so many prompts, Inspiration’s and learning curves to be getting to grips with, Keeping my mind active, not focusing on what may be in this time Of a plague-ravaged world.

So here I am, fortunate to be in this place, able to write to my heart’s content. Even days of writing frustration can be resolved with a walk and a swim.

Thank you Trisha Traughber for this “ Living and writing” prompt. Trisha’s prompt’s always start with a delightful poem, even if you don’t want to join in, read her poem and words leading up to the prompt here…

Thank you Trisha Traughber for giving my words a platform here at Vagabond Voices. Thank you all for reading and your precious time. Always. J.
