Summary

Darren was manipulated by his narcissistic girlfriend, Alison, through a pattern of discarding and hoovering, ultimately leading to his isolation and complete submission to her demands.

Abstract

Darren's relationship with Alison, a narcissist, was characterized by a toxic cycle where she would discard him, only to later hoover him back into the relationship with manipulative tactics. Initially, Alison left Darren for not being "man enough," citing infidelity, but when her plan to make him want her back failed, she convinced him that the breakup was a joke. They reconciled, but the pattern repeated, with Alison claiming the second breakup was a test of his love. Darren, desperate to prove his love and prevent future abandonment, sacrificed friendships and his own boundaries to meet Alison's demands. The relationship continues, but Darren has lost his support system in the process.

Opinions

  • Alison's behavior indicates a manipulative and controlling nature, using emotional tactics to keep Darren under her influence.
  • The author suggests that Darren's acceptance of Alison's manipulative behavior and his willingness to sacrifice his own well-being for the relationship are signs of deep emotional manipulation.
  • The article implies that individuals like Alison are adept at gaslighting and may be more challenging to recognize due to their passive-aggressive approach, especially in the context of gender stereotypes.
  • The narrative seems to criticize the societal expectation that men must fight for relationships, even when they are toxic, to prove their love and masculinity.
  • The author's perspective is that the female narcissist's approach, as exemplified by Alison, is subtle and socially camouflaged, making it difficult for victims like Darren to identify the abuse and seek help.

A Female Narcissist’s Coldblooded Discard Strategy

And how she gaslit her victim into taking her back when it backfired

Darren was dating a narcissist named Alison when she discarded him for not being “man enough” for her (she’d been cheating on him). Darren accepted her decision. Alison’s plan backfired.

She hoovered Darren, claiming the breakup was a “joke” before blaming him for taking it seriously. They got back together. She later discarded him again; he accepted her decision. Alison’s plan backfired again.

Alison hoovered Darren, stating this breakup was a test to make him “prove” his love for her before blaming him for not fighting for her. Darren said he didn’t fight for her because she wanted to leave.

Alison’s response: “And you were okay with that?”

Alison said Darren didn’t love her because he let her go “so easily”. To prove his love, Darren began sacrificing anything it took (including friendships) to make sure Alison would “never feel that way” again.

They’re still together.

We’re no longer friends.
