Summary

A witness describes a distressing incident where a man harshly yanked a young girl wearing a dog harness and leash, causing her to fall and scream, raising concerns about child abuse and the challenges of foster care.

Abstract

This morning, an observer recounted a troubling scene where a couple with a baby stroller was not paying attention to traffic. A little girl, seemingly around 3 years old, attempted to enter the street but was violently pulled back by a man, resulting in her falling and injuring her knees. The girl was restrained in a large dog harness with a long leash, which the witness found concerning. The witness expressed empathy for the vulnerable, questioning how such treatment can be justified and reflecting on the broader issue of abuse, including the potential for foster care to perpetuate the cycle of maltreatment. Despite acknowledging the existence of caring foster parents, the author calls for an end to the physical and verbal abuse of children and animals.

A Disturbing Scene on the Street This Morning

A little girl’s morning was ruined

There wasn’t a lot of traffic this morning as I was driving back home from the grocery store. It was around 9 a.m.

As I was waiting for the traffic light to change, I could see a man and a woman about a block away, walking along pushing a baby stroller. They were not paying any attention to the traffic.

As I drove by slowly a little girl started to dart out into the street. She was still on the curb as I got there.

She appeared to be about 3 years old. A cute little blonde haired girl.

When she started to move, the man yanked her back very roughly.

I saw that she was wearing a large dog harness and had a very long dog leash attached. The big dog leash like you would have for a German Shepherd or other big dog, at least 6 feet long.

I don’t even jerk my dogs around like that!

When he yanked her back, she fell on her knees and began screaming. Hitting the concrete like that with bare knees had to hurt. I am sure she has scraped knees or worse.

Thankfully, she didn’t hit her head on the concrete!

I was the first car passing them and there was no reason to yank her back like that. He could have taken her hand and guided her to stay on the sidewalk.

There were a couple of cars coming up behind me slowly and I am sure they saw the whole spectacle.

This image was very disturbing. I can only imagine what her life is like behind closed doors. I say this because there was no expression of kindness shown to her.

I have so much empathy for small children and animals. They are mistreated more than we know. (Like dogs chained outside with no food or water or left out in the cold or extreme heat.)

Yes, I know, that many people reading this story were abused as children. and I am so sorry about that. How do we stop the cycle of abuse?

When children are removed from their home by the State, it is so disturbing to them. Their little lives are disrupted, which may cause issues for them later on in life.

I have known of children being placed in foster care and the foster parents abuse the system, by taking the money they receive from the State and depriving the children. Many times the foster care family is no better than the family they were removed from.

The child can’t win!

I am not saying that all foster situations are bad because the majority are great. There are many wonderful foster parents that have raised children and given them a safe and secure start in life.

I have a hard time trying to understand why children and animals are mistreated.

It’s easy for adults to be mean to those that are so vulnerable.

How do they look at themselves in the mirror?

How do they justify their mean behavior?

How do they sleep at night?

There is no excuse for physical or verbal abuse .

I pray for the little children and animals.

So little respect given from those who should know better.

Bless the Beasts and the Children.
