A Day Full Of Potholes and Laughs.

I’ll be honest with you, I’m bloody knackered after today. Today has simultaneously been a successful and exhausting day. I was a bit of a dumbass and stayed up late last night watching WWE Smackdown. The biggest shock of the night was Rey Mysterio winning the United States championship. I wasn’t expecting but I love Rey to bits and he deserves the success. And I couldn’t talk about wrestling without mentioning the fact that Jey Uso super-kicked his brother before quitting the WWE.
I woke up in a bit of a groggy state but I decided to open an energy drink and kickstart my day. The anticipation for my job interview at 4 pm was surprisingly calm. It is a very similar role to my previous job so I feel confident that I will get the job. It involves working with children and I am very excited. I didn’t feel nervous, if anything I felt confident and calm walking into the interview room. Conversation seemed to flow naturally and the interviewer seemed genuinely interested in hearing about me and my life. She even complimented me by saying she thinks I would fit this style of work “like a glove”. I left the interview feeling very accomplished, I even bought a little matching keyring for me and Layla. I will find out tomorrow if I’ve got the job, but I am quietly confident.

I was incredibly frustrated on my scooter ride home as the council closed the main cycle path and didn’t provide a diversion. This meant that riders had to use the pedestrian diversion. As a result, it took twice the time to ride home in the pouring rain. The council seemed to have completely ignored riders and only focused on pedestrians, even though the cycle paths aren’t designed for pedestrians. It was during this time that I shared a laugh with a cyclist who fell off his bike at the same point I fell off my scooter. We both stood up, dusted off our muddy bottoms and blamed the council before sharing a burst of laughter and going on our way. I found this to be a very funny highlight of my day.
I was able to go home and watch the football with Layla. My team, Newcastle battered Aston Villa 5–1. I’m so happy that football is back and Newcastle have picked up right where they left off from last season.

I can’t be bothered to cook tonight so I’m going to just find something easy as I’m shattered. A Power Nap before wrestling tonight sounds like heaven. I’m going to try and work out what food I want tonight, but I wish you all a very happy day.
Thank you for taking the time and listening to my story. Medium has been a fantastic place for me to open up, receive support, and most importantly to aid my recovery. I feel like I am reclaiming my life and that is thanks to all of you!!
