Life must be lived with joy. See the pictures above👆🏽they reflect joy and happiness on everyone’s face. This is the festival of colors. It is called HOLI in India.

The festival of rainbow colors. Don’t miss my colorful cap and all of us dressed up in colorful clothes.

The Holi festival is celebrated in India in different ways in different regions. Each region has different ways of celebrating.

The celebration of Holi in North India is very vivid and full of bright colors.

In the western region, it is both a color and a ritual.

In the southern part of India, the focus is on religious and temple rituals.

On the day of HOLI, we hug, and we smear color on each other as they are colors of joy. We show that we care for each other. We eat a special sweet called a Gujjia. We have a family and friends lunch together.

Holi has become very big now. It is carried over for two weeks. Organizations and clubs celebrate it usually on the weekends and leave the actual festival day for prayer and friends, family, and neighbors.

A brief background of Holi

Holi festival is based on mythology and is celebrated to mark the victory of truth over evil.

It is the victory of Prahlad over cruel King Hiranyakashyap. Prahlad was a devotee of God but his father was a very cruel king named Hiranyakashyap.

Prahlad believed in god but his father believed that he was more powerful than god and asked his son to worship him.

Prahlad refused so the king wanted to kill his own son by burning him alive.

King Hiranyakashyap’s sister, Holika, had a god-gifted boon that she would not be burnt in the fire.

Holika was asked to make Prahlad sit on her lap in the burning fire. Holika was burnt but Prahlad survived unhurt.

This is called the victory of the good over the evil and it is celebrated with colors. 🌸🍊🍎🍉🥕🍅🍆💐🌻💚🏡

Celebrating Holi at Madhur Milan Club(MMC)

I joined a women’s club. We have ladies of all ages. The youngest is probably 30 and the oldest is 85.

Families are invited to certain festivals. We meet once a month. This time we were meeting for celebrating HOLI

As I entered the venue, I found it very inviting. The organizers decorated the place creatively. Nothing was overdone. It was as if everything was in its proper place.

The beautiful welcome with flowers sprayed all over brought a smile to me and I felt so joyous. Colors do make us happy and inspire energy and motivation to spread love among others.

The programs there are excellent.

We celebrated Holi this year with different flowers. It brought joy to so many people.

The program was organized by the wonderful organizing committee of the club. The president is seen in a white sari above☝🏽

A lovely couple danced and many people sang beautiful songs on the occasion. There was music and dance.

We danced and there was merriment.

We played HOLI with different colored flowers. We applied sandalwood on each one's forehead as part of the HOLI celebrations.

This reminded me of Holi that I once celebrated in Mathura. There in one of the temples they play HOLI with flowers and organic colors and there is a way that there is a drizzle of of lovely flower colors sprayed on you.

Colorful Tambola

Have you ever played a colorful tambola? It is so creative and innovative.

At the program, sheets were organized with various colors and the page was very creative. Tambola was played through these colors.

It was in different colors. We all enjoyed ourselves and were so excited about playing the game.

We played a colorful ball game as well. Tenis balls of green, pink, yellow, and red were handed over to us and we played passing the balls like passing the parcel with music.

President Sangeeta is a powerhouse of energy. She keeps everybody together and energizes everyone.

She is happy when she sees a smile on our faces. She makes us dance and is not happy unless everyone enjoys it.

The celebration of HOLI when designed as a get-together is called HOLI MILAN in India.

Holi festival does not end without eats. We had a wonderful spread of food. I normally do not eat so much but the mood of happiness coupled with the amazing snacks made me enjoy the food too.
