A Brief Introduction To My Background

My Bio For ILLUMINATION Readers

I’m Raveen, a 30-year-old living in Malaysia.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in 2019.

I’ve worked as a Beginner Programmer at an IT company from 2021 to 2022. In that same period, I’ve also freelanced in a few positions as a rapporteur, technical assistant, and session facilitator, and have written reports. These were related to workshops on gender equality and child protection services for refugee children.

Throughout my life, I have taken part in various social justice and awareness campaigns and protests. Some examples include protests and campaigns against privatization of healthcare, eviction against small farmers, harmful international trade deals, clean and fair elections, draconian laws, the destruction of forests, etc.

I’ve also volunteered for a soup kitchen program as well as weekly tuition classes that were organized by the local church. Besides that, I have taken up and resolved certain local council issues affecting my neighbourhood with the relevant state agencies.

I have an interest in reading both fiction and non-fiction novels. I enjoy playing badminton, running, playing computer games, and watching movies.

Currently, most of my time is spent writing articles and working on my blogs. I started blogging on Medium and Substack in October 2023.

Almost all my articles thus far, are mainly centered around social, socioeconomic, environmental, political, and mental health issues, both at the national and global levels.

I feel strongly about these issues as well as the urgent need for systemic reform to the current political system to solve those issues.

Hence, why I feel the need to express my thoughts and feelings through writing.

For almost all of my articles, I’ve submitted them to various government ministries and departments as complaints and feedback.

I’ve also sent them to news editors and they have been published in certain news outlets in Malaysia.

Through my writing and sharing of my articles, one of my hopes is that those who read them will gain awareness about the many serious systemic issues plaguing our societies these days.

I hope that my articles will expose more people to different perspectives and narratives, other than what the ruling class and mainstream media propagate.
