A Boosted Tale: Celebrating Memories and Milestones on Medium
From silence to recognition — your story is also worth sharing

My article “Celebrating the Memories of a Father” got boosted two weeks ago! I was so excited. It was the fifth article I had written on Medium and had already been published in May.
On 14th September, something unexpected happened. I received a private message from a writer. I had previously read an article from her and she came across my article. She believed my article was perfect for boosting. It turned out that she was a nominator for Medium’s boost program, and she had chosen mine. The nomination had been granted!
I remember reading the post I was boosted on my phone while I was getting the kids ready for school. I couldn’t contain my excitement and shared the news with them. Finally, my work was recognized, well at least one article. Those early articles I had written and posted on my wall seemed to have been lost in the void, never gaining much attention. There’s nothing more frustrating than questioning your thoughts and molding them into a readable text, only for it to go unnoticed — a feeling of time wasted.
No time is wasted
However, looking back, I don’t view that time as wasted anymore. It was an opportunity for me to become familiar with the Medium platform and make the decision to actually publish my thoughts and ideas. I had to summon the courage to put my thoughts onto paper, well, a computer screen, and share them with the world. I had half-expected angry messages or criticism from readers, but to my surprise, there was no negativity. There was silence.
The silence was almost worse, but it was a valuable exercise.
While reading on Medium, I kept coming across the advice to be consistent, and being boosted felt like a reward for persevering and staying true to my writing.
In the boosted article “Celebrating the Memories of a Father”, I’m commemorating my father, who passed away exactly 10 years ago on that very day I published.

I recalled some memories of him, from the sacred presence I experienced during my time in India to his genuine love for music and the time he took a shower in the rain. I still miss him, but I am mostly grateful for him. I am thankful that he chose to be my father and for the valuable time we spent together.
Although I lost him, his memories remain with me. By writing this article on Medium, I also make you a part of his story. I think he would have liked it to still be a part of my life now.
We’re part of something bigger
Medium has not only allowed me to express my thoughts but has also given me a platform to connect with readers and writers. Medium has provided me with the opportunity to be a part of something bigger, a collective of writers and readers who appreciate the beauty of storytelling.
So, I celebrate this milestone with a heart full of gratitude, not only for being boosted but for the chance to share a piece of my life, my memories, and my father with all of you.
In the end, it’s not just about the recognition. It’s about the connections we make by telling stories and sharing memories. Making our lives richer and more meaningful.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
Thanks for reading!
