A Bard’s Reflection

A journey through the eyes of Shakespeare

Enchanting Literary Worlds: A Quill’s Power Over Sword | Created with Bing AI by Author

This is in response to a Poetry Playground Prompt by Jonny Masters:

To write a sonnet, I decided to write about the man himself, Shakespeare. This was my first time writing a sonnet, so I hope it’s okay.

Lend me your ears, for I’ve a tale to tell, Of Stratford’s son who dreamt beneath the stars. Words are my playfellows, with them I dwell; On Avon’s banks, I’ve battled many wars.

Not with the sword, but with my quill instead, I’ve conjured worlds where lovers meet their fate. With kings and clowns, my parchment has been spread, Each line a destiny, each verse a state.

Beneath the glow of candle’s flick’ring light, I muse on love, on life, on death’s embrace. My soul poured out until the morning bright, In every character, you’ll see my face.

For what are we, but stories in the end? I, Shakespeare, to your heart, my tales I send.
