I feel like a copycat. I read JoAnn Ryan’s article challenging us to photograph A to Z items and write about them. You can read her article here…

As I read her article I thought — I have photos of alligators and photos of avocados. What other A items have I photographed? I looked through some of the pictures I have taken recently and found a couple to share. Yes, I am going to have to use the alligator and avocado pictures. Sorry for copying you JoAnn Ryan.

Alligator

We live in the RV full-time and travel from place to place. We lived in Florida for the month of December on the alligator infested Lake Rousseau. An alligator lived in our front yard. Whenever the sun was shining we could always count on him to climb up and get a tan.

Avocado

We got all set up and started walking around the campground meeting our new neighbors and discovering our new surroundings. One of the neighbors had an avocado tree at home and brought several to the campground to give away for free. He gave me three.

Avocado Salsa

I am not the least bit familiar with how to make guacamole or anything with avocados for that matter so I googled an avocado salsa recipe online and made the best dip I have ever made from scratch. This was so good on chips. I wish I had another one of those fresh avocados right now.

At the end of December it was time to move on to a new place in Texas. I found two things that I photographed that start with an A.

Angel Wing Shells

At the beach with no name at the end of our road I found several Angel wing shells that were not broken. Angel wing shells are delicate and break easily, so to find so many unbroken ones was special. I could also note that there is a small creek nearby called Arana Creek, but I don’t have a photo of that.

Aloe Plant

And finally, yesterday we drove to Lake Casa Blanca International State Park in Laredo, Texas and I saw a blooming aloe plant. I always try to identify what I have photographed and I think this is a Torch Aloe, also known as a Candelabra Aloe. I am not an expert, I just try to do the best I can.

I don’t think I have ever seen an aloe plant in the wild. Another first for me. But isn’t this bloom absolutely gorgeous? Can you imagine what it will look like once it opens all the way?

So there you have it. From my camera to you. Photographs of things that start with an A. I hope you enjoyed my submission. If you did please clap or comment. Stay tuned for the letter B.
