A Bit About The Author.
Since childhood, writing has always been a “thing”. I was always the one struggling to write a 300 to 500-word essay in school. Because I cannot for the life of me tell any story with 300 to 500 words!
No matter what the story trust me. I have tried on many occasions to write short-form content on Medium and on my blogs. But refreshingly, that is not something I am able to do as it stands.
As a young boy, I grew up on a farm with valleys, rivers, and mountains. It resulted in a deep love for nature. I form much stronger bonds with animals than with people.
Animals seem to like me, even the vicious ones tend to be rather calm around me because I radiate care, not fear.
I also had the privilege to work in Botswana many years ago, I have seen more animals in my time working there. Then I have seen during 10 trips to the “Kruger National Park”, (In South Africa) which you might be familiar with.
I worked in the wild, literally. Surrounded by elephants, leopards, hyaenas, lions, antelope, baboons, buffalo, and an array of animals. Never once did they harm me or make clear their intent to do so.
I have had the privilege of some wild animals approaching me and then eating from my hand (birds and antelope). I’m not sure if I will be able to stomach a lion walking up, I might just be dinner…lol!
At 53, I still have a wild imagination and creativity seems to stick around, for which I am eternally grateful. Imagination and creativity in my opinion are the heart of providing noticeable content, with both writing and design.
I am also a bit of a Perfectionist “sufferer”, but in my time, being a “Perfectionist” merely meant “Creating Order”. Yes, I will do something a few times over, like checking that the doors are locked before going to bed.
Everything in my house and on my desk is placed in exact order, with a specific place for everything. And you can test me by moving something as much as 2 inches.
When I enter the room, I will notice that immediately. Some of my friends tried that a few times, and I immediately asked, “Who moved that?”. And they responded, “We literally moved that by an inch, how the hell did you know?”
I guess I have a “good eye” for order and neatness then. Admittedly, I might not be the ideal person to live with…lol! As long as you don’t move my s*it around, we’ll be fine!
And if you’re done dining, then clean your stuff. There are no servants in my house. If you need a bite, then you know where everything is. If you want coffee, the same applies.
When you are considered a “friend”, then “mi casa es su casa”, my home is your home. Do what you like, just don’t move my stuff, and leave a mess once you’re done!
Lastly, I am also a qualified electrician. I love my job, but I’m passionate about writing. Admittedly, when choosing a career, I confused that which I loved, with that which I was obsessed with (writing).
But at least I have the skills to not need any contractors fixing anything around my house. I’m a multitasker, and apart from writing, I am also quite good with my hands. Fixing and creating things.
I just love writing, poetry, and the occasional motivational quote when inspiration hits. Next, I am sharing a few of the quotes I came up with over the years.
Inspiring Quotes by Deon Christie.

A lesson I have learned in life, thanks to being an entrepreneur. I soon learned that if you have not failed, then you have not tried hard enough yet.
Not only must you be prepared to fail, but you must be able to keep failing without a loss of enthusiasm. The more someone has failed, the more you will be able to learn from them.

People will only believe you when you can provide concrete proof of your claims. You will only get noticed once your success is showing. Because people tend to believe in what they can see.
Your success will spread like wildfire, but that only happens when your iceberg tip of success starts showing. What they don’t see, is the enormous part of the iceberg under the water.
Those years of struggling, working your way through the swamps of failure. That is what people often don’t notice. When in fact they should. The larger the iceberg is under the water, the brighter the tip of success will shine.

So many people confuse failure with defeat. When in fact, “failure” is a manufactured reality and not a reality at all. Because you can never fail because failure is just disguised as opportunity.
Failure is how you gather the knowledge, to be able to offer value and get recognized as a professional in your field. You need to believe in your ability, and in your dream.
Even if you’re the only person that does, and you are going to “stand alone” many times on your way to the top. Failure means you have learned something, and your tree of success is still growing.
You cannot speed up the process of tree-bearing fruit. You need to allow the nature of success to run its course. But you also need to stay on track until you “get there”. Not until you grow tired of trying.

I am no saint or “guru” or even dot com millionaire…yet. The one ability I have, which I am eternally grateful for, is the ability to write and come up with ideas.
I’m not yet the best at what I do, but I will keep going until I am. Some days my ideas are bursting at the seams, and the next the “bag” might be empty.
When that happens, I like to work on some inventions, turning thoughts into objects. When I am unable to come up with worthy content, you will find me in my little workshop.
As an example, a friend was once struggling to fix her car. Mechanics had a hard time getting the rear wheel hub off, as the wheel bearing seized up. So, she came to me.
Now I think any mechanic will tell you, it is not an easy task to remove a wheel hub with a seized bearing. And there is no “bearing puller” that can get in there.
So, I used an old “cut-off machine” screw that clamps the steel you cut. Used some angle iron and a welder. And I built a tool that could easily and safely remove the hub.
Sometimes you just need to stand a few steps back from a problem, see the whole picture, and figure out a solution. Simple as that, patience, and logical thinking.

When this one popped into my head, I felt like I was talking to myself. We sometimes expect too much and do too little. With digital marketing, do not become attached to the thought of “making money”.
Become attached to the thought of “providing solutions”. Fall in love with what you are doing, not the reward you expect to get. When you stop always expecting something in return, you can never be disappointed.

Think of success this way, especially financial success. You just keep going and one day, “it” will happen. You need to keep hitting that tree in the same exact spot and watch it come down.
Be determined and keep going, be willing to do whatever it takes. But first, decide just how badly you want to succeed. And always remember all the people you have to prove wrong.

This is something many people neglect to understand. Before you can be successful, you’re going to have to work through several devastating storms.
The more storms you beat, the more spectacular your own storm of success will be. But you have to ride out the storm of failure before your storm of success arrives.
It will take as long as is needed to reach success; success does not carry a clock. Success has no regard for time, you can never know how long it will take to reach success until you “get there”.

Need I say more? If you’re not yet living your dream, then you still have a few failures to get through. You still have a few storms to go through. Failure is the stepping stone to success.
The more you fail, the more you learn. And before you know it you will start living your dream. Just keep failing, again, and again. Each time get one step closer to your success.
Poems by Deon Christie.
The poem below, came from one of those days when nothing seemed to work. Everything you touch just seems to turn to failure. On this particular day, my spirits were extremely down.
The Dark Days Of Despair.
“In the darker days, there will be despair,
endless nights through emotionless stares.
So stuck to stay you cannot break away,
away from this madness and chains of clay.
Manufactured restraints of grief and despair,
how agonizing can be this tormenting lair?
Your whole being longing for this to end,
this deep and dark pit in which you descend.
The darker days will come for us all,
alone and frightened unable to stand tall.
A place of despair and a place without hope,
a place where you feel you can no longer cope.
A place where no one is coming to save you,
a place where no one can save you but you!
May these desperate and tormenting days pass you by,
or may you learn to rise above them and soar up high?
Despair and depression have become a modern trend,
the birth child of a dying world speeding towards the end!”
A Cosmic Marvel Turned To Dust.
As unpleasant as it is to admit, our world is dying as a result of petty differences, ignorance, and lust. A poem dedicated to placing an exclamation of our disrespect as a species, leading to our imminent demise!
The world we created is of inconsideration, destruction, and hate. Our world is dying and along with her all of our existence is soon to fade into evolutionary history.
“A once vibrant Cosmic marvel turned to dust,
the result of hate, and of ignorance and of lust!
An illusion we have of being the crown of creation,
an illusion that has caused none but devastation!
As our giver of life stands right before our eyes,
we choose to bicker, argue, and fight over gods and over lies!
There are powers far greater than our understanding of gods,
when in truth we may all be wrong, what are the odds?
We are from the Earth and that should be our church,
we are the protectors of life and as such must emerge.
Is nature then, not the apex of amazement and burst of life,
when we so comfortably trade that for money, possessions, and strife?
Creating a twisted mental persistence to compete,
when in the end it will all be imminently absolute.
Nature is my church and my actions my proud religion,
while the opinions others have of that is a mere smidgen.
I am the forest dweller and ambassador for truth,
adding to the spice of life with just a tiny dash of vermouth.
A protector, a sailor, a thinker, and perhaps even a saint,
be it as it may, my decisions and path are always quaint.”
Some may understand these poems, some may not. It describes humanity and the devastation we cause.
Our methods are mirrored by but one other life form on this magnificent Earth, that of an infectious virus, destroying all in its path and moving on!
If you have enjoyed my poem, kindly leave your honest thoughts. This was my second try, after writing several eBooks, I now venture into poetry!
