Ghostwriting requires only one skill. That’s called Passion for writing.
I have written very few articles on ghostwriting. Now I do it only part-time. The only thing that doesn’t let me leave this career is that I can charge money the way I want.
When it comes to digital products, you cannot charge more. There is a limit to that.
But when you provide services, the fee is more than $200 (depending on the field and skillset).
So I’ll advise that all writers should provide services in any one of these fields:
- Ghostwriting
- Consultation
- 1-on-1 coaching
You earn more per sale compared to digital products.
But again I’ll say do both!

- Social Media Content — I am pretty sure that everyone has more than three social media accounts. Accounts making more than $5,000 per month cannot handle an account all alone.
- Landing Page and Sale scripts — not many know this but people hire Ghostwriters to even write a small landing page or a product description. If your sales page is of low quality, no matter how much traffic the page gets, the conversion will always remain low. This job is not easy to get. I highly recommend finding accounts on Twitter selling their products. There are lots of clients on Twitter. DM is your friend!
- Email Courses — I don’t see many people hire writers to write their emails. Only big companies do that. For that, you have to approach them directly.
- Video Script — YouTube has become quite famous now. There are lots of creators making $10k a month on YouTube. But as the channel grows, the pressure to make unique content increases with time. I’ll say to approach big YouTubers directly. Work with them for some free time. I wrote my first YouTube script for $12 only!
- Ebooks — I highly recommend picking a niche if you want to become an ebook ghostwriter. Because clients prefer that you have enough knowledge on the subject, Tip: Romance ghostwriting is the easiest one of all. Fantasy, Memoir, and Erotic Romance writers make the most.
Conclusion
Getting the first client is always difficult. I got my first job on Upwork after 5 months.
I highly recommend having a Fiverr profile (under your real name) and linking it to your Twitter account. I haven’t tried other social media platforms, but Twitter works for me.
