7 Simple Things You Can Do Every Day to Improve Yourself

Start to accept help from others in one of them.

“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” — Aldos Huxley

Can you imagine yourself in 5 years from now? The person you are dreaming of being. What about if you start being the person of your dreams now?

I have been testing new habits recently. Some of them were unworthy and hard to follow, meanwhile others easier with wondrous outcomes.

Indeed, every day is a new experience; you ignore things that will arise in your way. But what you must know is if you are alert to take those experiences as a curve of learning and respond with a great performance.

I posted an article time ago about the regular habits I follow for years. While I keep some of them, I write down those I consider incredibly essential nowadays.

All of them will add a grain to your long path to become a better version of yourself. And, they will rapidly reduce the time you prognosticated to be that desired person.

Let’s start.

Start to Applied the 10 Years Test

Have you been working in your office, and someone says a comment which makes you feel down? And you were dragging that thought all day long?

It used to happen with me, and sometimes I carried at home, I couldn't even sleep well. It took me days to forget about it—what a waste of time. I was wrecking my head with those thoughts, such a small issue that I don’t even remember exactly what happened anymore! Do you know what does bother me, though?

I could have spent those two days creating something or helping others in their lives instead of moping.

So when you run into tough situations, instead of panicking, ask yourself, will this matter in 10 days? 10 months? 10 years? Chances are it won’t. Don’t sweat the small stuff, and keep your eye on the big picture.

Make Sure You Learn One New Thing a Day

“I don’t think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.” — Abraham Lincoln

This year I start taking serious learning a new language. I want to speak Russian. My wife converses with my daughters in her native language, I talk Spanish to them, and we speak English outside.

When I meet my wife’s friends almost all of them are Russian, and of course, they prefer their languages. They make an effort to speak English with me, but I can guess what language they want to communicate with. And why not see that chance to learn, anyway it will be useful for me.

I don't know your interests, but there is always something new you can learn every day. Just be aware and look around you. And doing so you will develop the creativity you have inside.

Just try something that you are curious about it, and submerge yourself into that. Ten or twenty minutes daily, and you will see in months how long you have become.

Recognize That the Best Version of Yourself Should Be Your Vision, Not Anybody Else’s

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is harsh. Nowadays, everything is social media, all gurus telling you what you are supposed to do and the successful person you must become.

Don’t waste energy trying to live up to what somebody else wants you to be.

Remember you are the actor of your life. If you have been the co-pilot in the vehicle driving your life until now, it’s time to take control. Take the wheel and start making your own path.

Take Advantage of Using Twitter to Network

I’m amazed about all the good content you find on Twitter. It’s impressive, to be honest, and free. Suppose you’re hardly trying to level up and looking for peers whom you can learn from. Give it a try.

The amazingness of Twitter is that whatever you post has to be short and concise. So you don't waste your time on something you are not interested in.

It’s never been easier to get in touch with influential and smart people. You can reach out to the person you admired and ask questions or read his thread. I had been pleasant experiences with incredible people. They can respond to any questions, and that supports my thought — “smart people value humility.”

Don’t Count the Hours. They Don’t Matter

“It’s not the hours you put in your work that counts, it’s the work you put in the hours.” — Sam Ewing

Are you the kind of person who is looking at your watch each second? Running around without reason like a headless chicken. We have all been there. I gave away all my watches years ago. I have my phone if I need to see the time. I was tired of running.

But what if you took the opposite approach? You plugged in your headphones, lost yourself in the music, and took it one stride at a time….while resisting any temptation to look at the timer at all.

If you did this, you probably discovered that you enjoyed the run and made it pretty far. Counting hours slow you down from reaching your goal. And make your life harder for the sake of nothing.

Drink a Green Smoothie Every Morning

It’s quick, easy, and healthy for you. Who wants to chew vegetables for hours during breakfast anyway? No one, right?

I’ve never been a big fan of salads. I used to avoid them. But knowing the importance of its consumption, I had to figure out the best way to get all their benefits.

A smoothie early is my way to go. Some parsley, cucumber, celery, ginger, apple, a mix of greens, a peeled lime, a bit of cayenne pepper, and a bit of blueberry and water are fantastic to get that boost of energy we all need.

The best part of this is you don't require salad all day anymore. :)

Be Humble and Accept Help From Other People

Remember, humility is the key. If people understand this simple statement, the entire world would be wondrous. Put yourself in a constant learner mode and look at the benefits that you will get.

I used to believe that people get mad when you ask for help. The truth is I was wrong. People are eager to help, the right people who know are eager to teach. The problem is nobody asks them for those limited beliefs we all store in our minds.

Smart people grasp that no one knows everything anyway. Hence, why don't you use the humility tool to expand your brain and sharpen your skills? As simple as that.

Don’t let your pride get in the way. Most successful people needed help along the way, too.

Many people can consider these everyday habits irrelevant. Or maybe they knew all of them. The question you have to ask is: Are you sincere with yourself and practice all of them on regular basis? Remember that common sense is not the same that “practice common sense.”

These realistic and easy habits will make you run the boat to reach your goals and become the person you want to be in less imagine you imagine. Try them out. They are free and around you.

Anyway, we all are looking for the same result, “be happy,” but we forget that happiness is not destiny. It is a state of mind in your everyday life according to the thing you are actually doing. Think about it.
