7 Proven Ways To Instantly Relax On-Command In Any Situation

The most essential skill you can master is the ability to relax on command. Besides the obvious benefits of alleviating stress and anxiety and the improvements to your physical health, learning to relax at will allows you to be at your best no matter the situation.
Relaxation is the gateway to:
- Elevated states of being: Squeezing the most juice out of any situation or experience.
- High performance: Receiving the most benefits out of any activity or practice.
- Conscious creation: Being in the best possible position to create the outcome you most desire.
Relaxation & Meditation
It holds especially true when engaging in any transcendental practice that works with the mind (meditation, visualization, mindfulness). Relaxation is a cornerstone skill for such practices and disciplines and usually is the biggest hurdle in extracting their maximum benefits — especially for beginners.
Regardless of the skill or activity, your results will likely be proportional to how well you can relax at the moment.
Below are 7 of the simplest and the most effective ways to relax on command. Pick one, practice it for 3 minutes a day, and then whenever you need to relax, use it on the spot.
1. Heart Coherence
Put your hand on your heart and imagine breathing in and out of your heart. As you breathe, put complete mental focus on your heart. Keep “watching” your heart.
2. Systematic Relaxation
Starting from your feet and moving all the way up to your head, place your attention on each major body part. Give each a gentle squeeze, release any tension, and allow them to relax.
3. Body Contact Points
Focus on all the various contact points of your body: the connection between your feet on the floor, your body in the chair, your hands in your lap, or your clothes touching your skin.
4. Havening
Gently rub the sides of both arms from below your shoulders to your elbows while thinking of something pleasurable or reciting positive statements.
5. Countdown Exercise
In your mind, slowly count down from 10 to 1. On each number feel yourself getting more relaxed. Optionally, do this while imagining you’re in descent on an elevator.
6. Visualizing “My Favorite Place”
This can be a real place or one from your imagination. Imagine being there and taking everything in with your five senses.
7. Connecting to Mother Earth
Visualize a warming white light shooting down into the crown of your head filling you with energy, harmony, and love. Softly repeat in your mind: “I am home.”
Do you use any of these? Which ones do you want to use? I’d love to know in the comments.
