As your brain slows down and prepares for sleep, bedtime is the perfect time to access your subconscious mind and pass it goals, questions, information, and problems you want it to work on for you.
Two powerful ways to do this are journaling and visualization. Below is my nightly routine that I do right before bed to program success and well-being into my subconscious.
I write down the most important tasks I need to work on tomorrow. This helps wire them into my mind and keep me focused on my “move the needle” tasks. I also close any open loops and jot down any floating ideas.
I journal the moments of “magic” I witnessed today. This includes documenting any synchronicities, coincidences, insights, or “weird” luck I experienced. I also write down any progress I made on my goals, even if it’s the tiniest thing.
Here, I list all the times during the day when I felt most alive and filled with passion and purpose. What was I doing? Who was I with?
In one sentence, I answer the question what would make tomorrow an incredible day, and how would that make me feel?
Now, I get into bed and call to mind a few random things I am grateful for. I smile and say thank you in my mind.
I spend the last few minutes before I nod off playing a movie in my mind in which I’m achieving success. The bolder and brighter I can make the pictures, the better.
Now, it’s off to dreamland.
