6 Sources of Inspiration to Overcome Writer’s Block
Raise a hand if you have felt like this before: Have no inspiration but continue writing because you think suddenly you will overcome writer’s block? — No, this will not happen: unless you give sources of inspiration to your brain.
Once I read that you should train your brain as a muscle so it gives you more ideas, I wasn’t sure at the time how could this work till I tried it myself. Give your brain more stimulus: the more information, the more sources for coming up with new ideas.
Now question yourself if you are here because you are recently lacking inspiration and you would like to overcome writer’s block?
This is a common thing that happens to creative people quite often. I force myself to keep writing although I have nothing else good to say but after a rest and put my writing aside and work on other projects, I often do this to come with fresh new ideas to finish my article.
A quick reminder that putting your work aside and come back later, will also help you to see your work with new eyes.
IDEAS TO KEEP WRITING AND OVERCOME INSPIRATION BLOCK
Inspiration like motivation will not suddenly come to you. Inspiration will come while you are working on your projects. That’s it. Although there may be some shortcuts on the road that will help you overcome the hated writer’s block.
1. Meet new people and talk to them
People will always have an opinion, which may be similar to yours but never the same. You can depart from here to write about the different opinions about one same topic.
2. Watch movies related to your topic
Movies offer a snap from a cultural perspective of a topic. It can also give you scenarios about a singular event.
3. Join niche Facebook groups and Forums on reddit
Start a discussion about a topic that interests you. You will find different points of view and different arguments based on past experiences from people all around the world. The Internet is amazing!
4. Engage with kids around you
Kids are native teachers, please be a good student to them. Kids will not always give you energy but also they always have these crazy ideas that sometimes turn to be more logical than expected. Ask them whatever you will get a non-standard answer, believe me.
5. Keep learning
This will not only will keep your mind distracted from forcing you to have a great idea. It will give you the chance of learning something more to share with the world. Write about your experience, your expectations, or teach what you learned.
