6 Powerful Ways to Boost Your Concentration in Your Work
Even when your working routine is boring.
Focusing on your work could be distracted by internal and external factors. Such as doing a boring job, TV show, social media, phone notifications, or even craving sweets the moment you work. My appetite increases whenever I have something to do.
To have a better focus on your work or studies, you need to sacrifice a little and make some adjustments for more energy to get things done.
The following 6 tips will help you to be more focused on your tasks:
Put your phone on silent
Your email messages won’t disappear if you check them later. Your WhatsApp and social media notifications can wait.
Put your phone on silent or ‘don’t disturb’. In some phones, you can also customize it to get notifications and calls from specific persons.
Avoid distractions
Especially with social media. Most of the time we have the habit to “scroll to refresh”. Trust me, nothing changed, the same things as always. Concentrate on your work first, because you’ll have the rest of the day for the other stuff.
Avoid anything that could distract you like TV shows and news. If your thoughts are flying around, then I suggest you write down what you’re thinking about.
For example, if you remembered that you should contact someone or to do something else than your work. Then write it on a note and forget about it. So whenever you finish your work, you’ll come back to that note later.
Enjoy what you do
This could be hard sometimes. But always try to look at the positive side of what you’re doing.
Change your mindset about your work from something boring that you’re forced to do. To something you can learn, help, and enjoy.
Look at the filled half of the glass
Also, create ideas to improve your productivity. Change the way you study, or display and manage your work.
For example, if a teacher explains his lecture the same way in every class. Eventually, nobody will give it attention. While an excellent teacher would always bring creative ideas to deliver his lecture to the students. The same concept applies to every other field.
Change your environment
Working in the same place for a long period could be demotivating. I remember watching Kitchen Nightmares TV show, about how people run their restaurants.
When the restaurant gets a new decoration. The chef and staff would make much better progress in running the restaurant.
You may apply a similar concept to anything you own in your life. Whether it’s your workplace, your house, or a new car. Changing your environment or redecorating it will make you feel having a fresh start.
Have a healthy meal
Sometimes all you need to boost your focus is to fill your belly with a healthy meal.
Our brain requires energy to function well. This energy comes from food. When you’re starving, give yourself a break and have a snack or take lunch.
This is why breakfast is necessary to have before you start your day.
Organize your tasks and improve your lifestyle
Multitasking drains your energy while keeping you unable to complete any of your tasks.
Instead, organize your tasks to start one at a time according to their priority. This will help you to stay focused and finish your work quicker.
Your lifestyle plays a primary role in every plan you make throughout the day. Do you sleep enough? Do you stay up at night? Are you always tensed about a relationship, family, and future work matters?
You’ve got to fix these matters to have better management for your daily routine tasks.
