Your morning decides how your day ends.

I get it.

You’ve read about it many times. But trust me, the way you start your morning defines how your day is going to end.

A proper morning routine is a fuel of energy that will persist throughout your day until you get back to sleep.

A good morning is not just a word you say. But a mindset that should make your morning a good one in reality.

Your morning time acts as a pillar for making a productive and successful planned day. It only takes some routine commitments to make it work.

Here are the 6 tips that helped me and shall help you make a more productive morning:

Make your To-Do list plans the night before

Because if you don’t, you won’t have any motive to get up. Procrastination will hit. Laziness will hit.

Or you’ll waste the morning being confused about what you’re going to do for the day.

When you plan your tasks the night before. You’re already motivating yourself for the next day. Also, it will naturally eliminate procrastination.

Get up on time

You can’t build a daily plan while you wake up at different periods every day. Depending on your sleeping time.

You’ve got to fix that.

Set up a rule to get up 'After' a period of time you decide, instead of restricting yourself to wake up at specific time. This trick will make you avoid procrastination for extra hours or minutes of sleeping.

Let’s say you’re willing to get up at 6 a.m. In this way, you’ll build a habit of getting up at anytime you wake up after 6 a.m

However, It’ll be much better if you combine this with sleeping early.

Make up your bed

It’s the first and smallest task you can do. Making your bed is a positive habit that puts the motive in you to start your daily tasks. A tiny goal that acts as a good start to complete the rest of your goals.

It’s like how William H. McRaven’s described it:

If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do another task, and another, and another. By the end of the day, that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed.

Besides, this little task will help you to be a more organized and punctual person.

Exercise

It is a great way to boost your concentration. A 30 minutes of a walking or stretching will freshen you up. You will feel much active while doing your work.

I run daily every morning. Honestly, sometimes it feels lazy to get up, especially in winter. But once I finish it, I totally feel active.

All you need is to get out of your comfort zone and do it.

Things to avoid

A) Avoid checking your phone in the very morning

It’s a motivation killer.

If you are one of those who use their mobile phone excessively in the morning, then you need to reconsider that.

When you make your phone the first thing to look at in the morning, you’ll face one of two situations.

  1. To scroll over the latest notifications, then get up.
  2. To check your phone hoping to read an email related to work, or excited to see your latest social media alerts.

The first case is usual and variable depending on the situation. While the second case will lead you to procrastination and distract you throughout the day. Because if you’ll spend more time on your phone if you found an exciting notification.

On the other hand, you will be demotivated, upset, and unwilling to start any of your day tasks if you didn’t get the message alerts your expect.

In conclusion, don’t make your phone the first thing your eyes will see every morning.

B) Warm showers

They are relaxing especially in winter. But..

This also means you’ll more likely wish to go to bed than to start your day.

A warm shower relaxes the body muscles. Which will make you feel lazy than to feel active. You may take a mild shower.

Or have a five-minutes exercise if you want to freshen up yourself.

Conclusion

Your morning time acts as a pillar for making a productive and successful planned day. It only takes some routine commitments to make it work. In summary:

  1. Prepare your To-Do list plans before you sleep.
  2. Sleep early and set up a rule to get up at anytime you wake up after a period you decide.
  3. Making your bed is a motive to complete your daily tasks.
  4. Exercise if you want to freshen up.
  5. Don’t make your phone the first thing your eyes will see.
  6. Warm showers make you sleepy, not active.
